Commercial Heating Engineer
Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Heating Engineer to join our team. This is a hands-on role focused on larger-scale mechanical and heating projects across commercial and commercial-scale domestic properties. The work involves plant rooms, boilers, heat pumps, and district heat networks, so we want someone who is confident stepping onto bigger jobs and taking ownership of them from install through to commissioning.
You will need a strong commercial heating and gas background, solid plumbing skills, and the practical ability to work independently or lead on site. If you have spent time on commercial plant and larger installations rather than one-off domestic call-outs, this role will suit you.
What You Will Be Doing
Installing, servicing and repairing commercial heating systems, including boilers, plant room equipment, associated pipework and controls. Carrying out commercial plumbing and heating work to a high standard. Working on heat pump installations, from commercial-scale domestic through to larger multi-dwelling and development projects. Contributing to district heat network installations and connections. Troubleshooting faults across heating and gas systems and getting them resolved properly and quickly. Working confidently in plant rooms on larger-scale projects, either on your own or as part of a site team. Making sure all work meets current gas, heating and building regulations. Keeping accurate records of work completed and materials used.
What We Are Looking For
Proven commercial heating and gas experience is essential. Confidence working in plant rooms and on larger-scale projects. Strong commercial plumbing and heating skills. Experience with heat pumps, boilers and district heat networks would be strongly favoured. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision while holding to safety standards. Good organisation and attention to detail on both installation and maintenance. Relevant gas qualifications and certifications for commercial work.
Requirements
You must provide your own van and tools. You must hold your own insurances, including public liability and any cover relevant to self-employed or subcontract work. A valid UK driving licence is required.
This is a genuine opportunity for a capable commercial engineer who wants steady, larger-scale work with a contractor that takes quality seriously.
