Pros

Most of the staff are great

Cons

Lack of leadership and bullying. Some senior managers are allowed to treat staff terribly. Multiple staff have been diagnosed with mental health issues since joining the business. Not great from a business that promotes mental health as part of its healthcare services.

Benenden Health Response

We were very sorry to read this review as it doesn’t reflect some recent employee survey results that we are very proud of. As you have listed you are a current employee, we would encourage you to raise your concerns via the internal channels we have available for employees. This then means we can look at the situation in more detail and tackle any issues that might arise. We would be happy to help you with this in HR. We would also like to be able to give some public reassurance that good leadership and mental health issues are high priorities for us. Benenden Health was recently rated 1 star on the Best Companies index, which uses a survey of Benenden Health employees on an annual basis and indicates that our people are very engaged with the business. In particular, the survey showed that one of our highest scores was on our Senior Managers being caring and supportive. Our leaders are also continually assessed in line with the values of the business, one of which is that we promote a culture of care, respect, compassion and wellbeing. We are also championing mental health extensively, and our internal network of mental health first aiders has added extra support for employees alongside common benefits such as a confidential helpline. We recognise that for all businesses, stress is increasingly becoming one of the most common causes of sickness absence, and we have our own internal strategy and action plan to help tackle this – including offering a range of benefits and events designed to increase stress awareness and resilience.

Pros

Can’t think of anything, will have to come back to this.

Cons

From high end management, to favouritism and the severe lack of support for staffs mental health (which the sing from the roof tops how much the are pioneers in the area.So let’s start with management because unless you’re female then you ain’t getting a look in, on any role, wether you’ve been there 5 minutes or 5 years, if got a good figure you’ll certainly be selected. If your face fits with certain people you’re set for life. The place is full of 2 faced, back stabbers who will be all nice & ‘supportive’ to your face but will then talk about you to high heaven the moment you back is turned. Or pretend they supportive but can’t wait to kick you when your down or at your lowest, as long as calls being answered & targets are met, then suicidal thoughts don’t count they can wait till you’re out the door & someone else’s problem. In terms of mental health, only certain people care because they’re good people but other people ignore the matter & don’t wish to engage. Certain managers as I’ve stated above are very good people & unfortunately even they get ground by the environment, but certain managers just lie to your face time & time again. You can’t even have a loss in the family without them questioning the times you need to grieve or deal with the situation, or even making the situation all about themselves. There are people they wish only a life time of misery & hope I never see again,I have the misfortune of still being around the place in passing & it turns my stomach. There are certain people in high positions that once you’ve left that building if the number 5 bus from the main road hit you they’d be more concerned that it would effect there route home rather than if you were alive. It’s most probably the most selfish environment you could work in, but they’ll throw a summer party or pass some pizza around from time to time & give themselves a pat on the back
