Pros
Up until recently it was the autonomy and work-life balance. However, a recent message was sent to all staff saying that we must be leaving home no later than 07:30. This goes against everything I've been taught at Octopus. On my first onboarding week in Slough they made such a big deal about how we are all grown ups and should be trusted to get on with our work without constant supervision and that as long as the work was done to standard within deadlines that we were free to plan our own time as we see fit. Now that seems to have gone out the window.
Cons
Scheduling. More often than not the scheduling of jobs means there are long distances to travel, often through the worst of rush hour traffic, and that you end up criss-crossing back and forth to areas already covered because one job was an AM and another a PM. So you do a job in the morning, have to leave the area to go and do other jobs, then return to the same area in the afternoon to carry out the PM job.
