Pros

- The guy/girl sitting next to you might be nice and you can probably hang out. - People are generally knowledgeable and will happily share their knowledge. - Some of the people are even real gems, on a personal level - unfortunately, those are rare and they appear to have no say (notably those are often the older employees who have a little bit more experience). - Free treats (also see 'Cons' below). Conclusion: you might like it here if you just want to take your money home and don't care about company culture that goes beyond free pizza.

Cons

- Too many of the wrong kind of people in some of the most powerful positions: people who have been with the company from the start have been pushed up into higher positions regardless of whether they have any kind of leadership/management capability - HR overly enthusiastic about the company turning a blind eye on things or blaming the employee/making the employee responsible, even when things go terribly wrong - Employees 'bribed' to feel happy in the workplace with lots of meaningless free treats - A lot of the employees only care about their career/themselves and do not care about the company one bit. - Likewise, the company does not care about the individual. - What is deemed to be an 'anarchist' culture where supposedly everyone can say or do what they want is actually just a system of tyranny where your boss can tell you what they want and you're supposed to clap when he is finished. If you don't like it, there's the door. That's your freedom (that and the pizza). - Due to this a lot of people are just keeping their mouth shut. - Average age of the employees (Engineering and HR!) is too low. The company likes to hire young people between 20 and 35. Diversity (or lack thereof) is an issue. Overall the problem is that the company wants to think they are something that they are absolutely not. I have found it deeply depressing to work there.

Pros

- Teams are generally made up of lovely, hardworking and helpful people. You will make friends for life. - The C-team are smart, competent people - 10% of your time is given to allow you to work on learning and developing in the areas you choose - Unlimited holidays - Semi-flexible working practices - Private medical insurance - Free snacks and drinks in the office - Opportunity to travel and visit other offices - Certain personalities will do well here and achieve huge career progression very fast

Cons

- Pay is below market rate, while the company regularly brag about how much revenue is being generated, which is incredibly tone-deaf. - High staff turnover which the company try to downplay, and claim the abundance of jobs is based only on "high-growth". - Lack of transparency - No commitment to improvement. Very much a "if you don't like it, you can leave" attitude from leadership. Speak up at your own risk: some managers take it personally and will act petty towards you in future. Again, I don't get this vibe from the C-team, but you don't deal with them on the day to day. - There's a bias in promoting those with a certain attitude (outspoken, extraverted, ability to think on the spot, bad at listening, passive-aggressive or just plain aggressive). This results in a lack of diversity which is stifling. - Many of those in management positions are under-qualified but know how to network and talk themselves up. It sets the standard and you can feel like you have nobody to turn to. - Employees are expected to display the company principles, EOY bonuses are based on this - yet leaders don't follow suit and instead display the exact opposite behaviour without consequences. - Gaslighting and manipulation are commonplace when you try to speak up. I developed PTSD from a particularly toxic manager and am now having therapy to rebuild my self-esteem.

Pros

- Highly flexible approach to working - Competitive salary - Unlimited holidays and sick time - Generous perks & stock options - Wonderful people at the ground level; you will meet talented, passionate and genuine people who care about the product and the customer - Keener focus on responsible gaming of late, which is great to see - Modern tech provided - Going through a period of growth so opportunities abound - Company is really flexible in terms of sideways career moves; if you want to try something new, they will by and large facilitate and support this - Fairly mature Agile processes in place - Making positive steps towards diversity that (finally) feel like active missions rather than just lip service - You learn a lot, fast. It's a big, complex tech stack that is only getting bigger and better as products expand and new verticals spin up. It'll be a baptism of fire, but you'll walk away from this job with tech chops like no other.

Cons

- While inevitable, the loss of FanDuel's startup culture is potent and disappointing; you will be working as part of a massive global corporation, and you'll feel it. It's far less about the product now, and all about the cash cow. - Lack of stability in terms of verticals and road maps. You will find your team repeatedly steamrolled, projects changed/abandoned and late hours expected as you suddenly MUST be first to market for whatever state has decided gambling is a-ok that week. - There are cliques within the leadership team that are relatively new and horribly toxic. People that lack professionalism and technical knowledge are making decisions they shouldn't be. The number of tense company-wide calls lately has been ridiculous. - Comms between the average employee and leadership are poor. We have frequent townhalls with Slido and live questions, but more often than not the answers skirt around the real issue, or the person raising the question is made to feel stupid/naive or plain infantilised. - Comms generally are a problem. Rumours abound throughout the company long before any concrete information is provided by leadership.
