Pros

Flex days Good training provided (before covid) Good company name to have on the CV. car loan scheme

Cons

The factory and commercial side of the business might as well be two sperate companies, they do not follow the same company values and employees are treat very differently depending on what side of the business they sit on. York factory promotes a bully style of management from the top down, on many occasions senior management use a degrading style of management with the end goal being to belittle their staff. Burn out culture is something heavily promoted within the factory, you must be contactable on your phone at all times, all hours of the night - work chat is abused through the night and on weekends with senior management bombarding staff with texts demanding information. Work life balance does not exist. Salaries seem decent from the outside, but when you take into account the hours you will be working the hourly rate will be below minimum wage. This is by far one of the most toxic environments I have ever worked in, my advice would be to stay clear of the factories. At least I now have a wealth of experience working in stressful and toxic environments - anything is up from here...

Pros

A lot of the people can be quite friendly and the new office is a very nice place to work.

Cons

Working in what they still see as the 'admin' team means that you are very often treated like the help and never given a promotion or the pay rise that you deserve. They are SO SO SO distracted with nonsense like Six Sigma / LEAN that you can't get your job done. You can't just say that there is a problem, you have to measure weeks and weeks of data before you get the go-ahead to fix the issue. As for health and safety, I 100% agree that this is important however they have allowed it to take over. You MUST walk up and down the stairs holding a handrail or you'll get told off (and reported), you can't take even one step whilst talking on your MOBILE phone or you'll get told off, there are stickers on the stair telling you what side to walk up and to 'hold the handrail'. They have weekly meetings (MOR's) that drain the life out of you. Anytime I have spoken to an old Nestle employee they always say how happy they are to be away from that utter time wasting nonsense. They think they are helping to avoid accidents when in fact they are pushing away perfectly good employees.

Pros

You sometimes get some free kit-kats.

Cons

No progression - literally stuck doing the same job for years. Management pretend to care about your development, however do not encourage or train you in anything that might mean you can leave. Horrendous training - usually have to just train yourself after watching one person once. Too much focus on pathetic 'pillars' and NCE - total waste of time that achieves precisely nothing yet takes up so much time. Awful organisation, no communication between departments means some days you're running around trying to sort a million things out. Time spent on non--productive activities such as 45min DOR's is another example. Lack of senior and experienced staff means that on some days, there is nobody trained/knows enough about certain things. AWFUL management, particularly within the Microbiology Team; the worst most useless manager that you could ever imagine. No reward or thanks given to the people giving 110% effort and sacrifice to Nestle, reward only given to undeserving people or none at all. Senior management have no clue how to run a group of people, the laboratory has been run into the ground due to poor decisions made by management and this has made the NQAC a terrible place to work. Nestle produce is absolutely disgusting. The pay is terrible for all the work you do.
