Pros

There is no pro’s of working for this company other than the fact you will get to meet many people around the business as no one takes responsibility for appalling management and team leader behaviour and therefore if you raise a complaint or concern expect to speak to every single Colleague in HR, all of which will fob you off and try to worm their way out of a situation, you’ll also speak to many managers from different offices and regions who will also treat you like a mug and offer complete lack of support. If your buying a house through Stonewater you could pretty much guarantee it’ll make your house almost impossible to sale as a result of all their mess ups along the way, houses are sold under the attitude of ‘lets wing it’ and processes are not streamlined

Cons

Where do I begin...if the smell of dead rats under the floor boards won’t put you off the company as soon as you walk in the office then the staff definitely will! The toilets are filthy, people leave mess in and around the toilet, and the fridges are enough to put you off eating for the rest of the day! Too many families And friends work in this place and favouritism is second nature to team leaders. Bigger managers in the business are even willing to offer incentives of referring a friend to the company despite The concerns of many of the lack of transparency between teams! If your looking for help your better off speaking to the CCT team leader who will emotionally support you and listen to your upset or management within the development area of the business, other than these people no one knows what they’re talking about. Managers turn against one another and also cause conflict within teams, private health information is disclosed to other team members, often in the kitchen when people go to ‘gossip’. If your young, don’t bother, you will be treated different because of your age by the team leader, if you identify as anything other than heterosexual, remarks will be made about your sexual orientation, and if your older, don’t bother because you will be called ‘useless’ and will get nothing but people rolling their eyes behind your back! The training is absolutely shocking to say the least, in fact...what training?? You’ll be expected to work from processes which do not add up and when you ask for help it’ll guaranteed be a problem, very few people in this place will help you! There is conflicting rules for different colleagues depending on the team leaders opinion of you, some people get away with skiving off for months, whereas others get penalised for not coming to work even though they have a sick note! You’ll soon realise if you work here that many people are suffering mental health as a result of the business, THIS PLACE WILL MAKE YOU UNHAPPY! Occupational health is something they will ensure they avoid at all costs and will try to disregard any health problems or mental health by advising you to call ‘care first’ which is just a call centre of people who read from a script and tell you how to try and basically be a better person to suit the business, your worries, upsets and concerns are not addressed. Team leaders get put in place when they lack people skills and to be honest, have no social skills or ability what so ever, trying to discuss issues with a manager was like speaking to a brick wall. Team leaders swear and shout around the office and certain individuals believe they are in a position to make sexual and inappropriate comments accross the office, but again, if your face fits, this is allowed. They do not care about their staff and in fact are making redundancies as we speak, they have even hired people externally for positions around the business rather than trying to help those who are risking redundancy. If you take time off you will be hassled as to when you will be returning rather than them leaving you to get some much needed time away from the horrendous business. There is also 0 opportunity to progress within the business, this is a dead end company with dead end managers, aims and outcomes. Some people get away with booking holidays on the work computer, whilst others are micro managed and denied help or receive lack of support if they are dealing with a difficult call or email, the managers are very narrow minded. People lie about illnesses which effects the whole company, lack of support for people effected by this is offered!

Thank you for giving us feedback, and we’re sorry to hear that this has been your experience of working for Stonewater. We are proud to be recognised by our colleagues as a one star Best Company to work for in the UK and in the top 25 UK Housing Associations to work for. The wellbeing of our colleagues is of the upmost importance to us, and we’ve worked hard to provide a range of resources to support this. We’ve recently launched a brand new learning and development platform, to complement our existing comprehensive programme, including workshops on resilience, business systems and the external qualifications we already support. Before the pandemic struck, we’d started a journey towards transforming our customer experience, and ensuring that we could be flexible, responsive and ambitious in our efforts to better serve our customers. We’ve been piloting new ways of working, involving colleagues right from the start, and we know that launching this has meant a rapid change in the way our frontline teams work. The pandemic has been difficult for everyone, especially as we embed a new service model, but we’re committed to listening to colleague and customer feedback and ensuring that Stonewater is a great place to work. We’d like to understand more about the feedback you’ve given, and we’d encourage you to contact your line manager or our People team so we can work together to further improve our colleague experience.

Pros

The role offers excellent flexibility and full remote working, allowing for a good work–life balance. I enjoy the independence and the trust placed in employees to manage their own workload effectively.

Cons

Sometimes guidance and training can be unclear, and you’re often expected to figure things out yourself. It can take time to learn who to contact or how certain processes work.
