“Have the courage to go for it.” That’s the message from Josh Bradley, whose career journey at Anchor shows just how far your ambition can take you. Josh joined Anchor in 2023 as a Location Manager in Extra Care, our independent living for over 55s, with flexible support available to residents when it’s needed - combining independence with reassurance. Since then, he’s stepped into a Resident Liaison Co-ordinator role and is now part of the Area Manager Development Programme for Extra Care in the North. What made that progression possible? - Supportive teams - Encouraging line managers - Real opportunities to grow - A culture that backs your ambition Josh says he wouldn’t be where he is today without the guidance and belief of the people around him. And his advice for anyone thinking about an Area Manager role at Anchor is simple: “If you have the skills, the drive and the desire to make a difference, just go for it - the support is there to help you thrive.” At Anchor, we don’t just offer jobs. We offer journeys. Ready to start yours?
“Anchor has given me the chance to grow in ways I never imagined.” Jonah started his journey over 8 years ago as a Customer Centre Support Advisor, learning the foundations that set him for success. Here’s what he said about his time at Anchor (so far!): ‘Working in a team that connected with so many others gave me a broad understanding of Anchor and the Customer Centre. After 12 months, I moved into Regional/Lettings, where I spent most of my time, taking on new responsibilities and meeting some of the best colleagues I’ve ever worked with. During the Anchor & Hanover merger, I was part of the lettings team managing Legacy Hanover voids, which was a huge learning experience. In early 2022, I progressed into a Team Leader role, and even spent 6 months as a Manager at Chatsworth Court which was a fantastic opportunity to broaden my skills. How did Anchor support me? They gave me opportunities to step up, even when I was hesitant. That support helped me build knowledge across different areas, so I can bring more value to my team every day. My advice for anyone considering a role in the Customer Experience Hub? It’s an ever-changing environment full of growth opportunities. You’ll have support from colleagues and leadership, and you’ll learn about the wider business while building a diverse skillset.’ If you’re looking for a career where you can grow and make a real impact, Anchor is the place. Happy 10 year work anniversary to Location Manager Debbie! We’d like to join the celebrations of Debbie’s long service by sharing a quote from her and a fab photo from her party at Reverend Bill Baker Court. ‘I can honestly say that I enjoy the job now just as much as I did the first day I started in post. I embrace Anchor’s core values and always want to do the best for the residents. I enjoy everything about the job and just absolutely love seeing residents when they first move in to when they are settled. I always put a ‘welcome to your new home’ sign on the door of every new resident which always makes them smile. I have excellent contacts in the local community which I can draw on to bring different entertainment for the residents e.g. therapy ponies, local entertainment, circus, alpacas, local college to name a few. Here is to another 10 years making a positive difference!’ Debbie’s passion for residents is clear to see, thank you for all you’ve contributed over your time with us (so far!).
Anchor recently received feedback that colleagues love their pension benefit (and the great rate) but also acknowledged that they didn’t feel 100% confident understanding how pensions work as a whole. In response to this, we’ve run a colleague webinar with Money & Pensions Services who provide government-backed guidance on pensions. In this exclusive Anchor webinar, topics such as the below were covered: How much money will you need in retirement? The State Pension Why are private pensions important? The employer’s pension arrangements Tax relief on contributions (and Salary Sacrifice if relevant) Pension options on retirement Information on the Pension Wise service What happens to your pension when you die? How to save more Tracing old pensions Pension scams and how to spot them Anchor colleagues also have access to regular webinars via our pension scheme provider Legal & General too. We believe our rewards and benefits offer should add real value to our colleagues’ lives whether that be from a financial, wellbeing, personal or professional stance. When you join Anchor, you join a company who cares – about our colleagues as well as our residents. Interested in working with Anchor? Visit anchor.org.uk/careers today.
