Women’s rights have come a long way, but there’s still a lot of work to be done. On International Women’s Day, which takes place on the 8th of March every year, we celebrate the women who are leading the fight against gender bias. This year, UN Women wants to focus on how we can use innovation and technology to help empower women. The theme for 2023 is DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. The event wants to address violence towards girls and women in digital spaces. A UN Women study in 51 countries showed that 38% of women have been the victim of online harassment. By using technology to educate women we create greater potential for innovations that meet everyone’s needs. International Women’s Day is one of the most important days of the year to raise awareness for gender equality and honour women’s achievements. Please follow the link to see ways in which we can all celebrate !
Happy New year! 2023's Chinese New Year is taking place on Sunday 22 January 2023 and the lunar cycle will last until 09 February 2024. The Chinese New Year is tied to the lunar calendar and so is different from the New Year of the Gregorian calendar commonly used in Europe and in other parts of the world. Chinese New Year traditionally lasts for 16 days with 02 January being New Year's Eve and 05 February being the day The Lantern Festival is held. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit (more specifically the water rabbit). This animal is said to represent peace, diplomacy and luck with a person born in these years supposed to take on the traits of the animal, according to tradition.
Proudly supporting Pride month ! Every year, during the month of June, the LGBTQIA+ community celebrates in a number of different ways. Across the globe, various events are held during this special month as a way of recognising the influence LGBTQ+ people have had around the world. Why was June chosen? Because it is when the Stonewall Riots took place, way back in 1969. The Royal Mint has today revealed a commemorative 50p celebrating the 50th anniversary of Pride UK. This coin marks the first time Britain’s LGBTQ+ community has been celebrated on official UK coinage, and forms part of The Royal Mint’s wider commitment to diversity and inclusion. for the full Article click below
