As part of International Women’s Day, we want to showcase some of our talented females who help define and shape the culture at BAE Systems. Emma, IT Business Relationship Manager, BAE Systems - “Alongside being an IT Business Relationship Manager at BAE Systems, I co-lead our LGBTQ+ network, OutLink, which supports gender and sexual diversity within the workplace. I lead a team of volunteers across 9 Businesses, supporting more than 45,000 employees. Some of the greatest things I have been able to deliver are; introducing and changing policy to ensure the LGBTQ+ community is supported, delivering a programme of awareness sessions about topics such as Trans awareness, fertility, LGBTQ+ identities and STEM, introducing pronoun pins across sites and to email signatures and sponsoring the LGBTQ+ in Defence awards, and most importantly providing a safe space for those in our community. I do this because everyone wants to feel part of something, it is important to me that everyone gets a seat at the table. Purvi Kay is the Chair for BAE Systems “Women in Cyber” Programme that attracts, develops, and retains women in Cyber Security. Purvi leads a small team that delivers workstreams to inspire women in Cyber and provide information on career pathways and training requirements. The programme’s RISE Mentoring Scheme enables women across the globe and industry partners access high calibre mentoring from professionals within the Cyber industry. Purvi also champions Neurodiversity in Cyber Security and has positioned herself as an influential Neurodiverse Ally within the Cyber and Tech industry. She has delivered several keynotes on this subject at external events and a TEDx talk on how Neurodiversity can strengthen Cyber Security. She believes in the unique talent that neurodivergent individuals have and continues to shed light on challenges they face in education and in the workplace. With her insights and experience Purvi plays a critical role in helping the industry embrace true inclusion and create a paradigm shift in recruiting, nurturing and retaining a diverse and inclusive workforce. What could re-locating for a job with us look like? 🤔 John, a graduate project manager, did just that moving from Birmingham to Cheltenham. Although his role is hybrid, he made the decision to move closer where he's found Cheltenham provides a balance of countryside and vibrant social scenes. John's already made lots of new friends inside and outside of work and he's even taken on the role of ''office social representative'', responsible for planning team get togethers, Christmas parties and black-tie balls.
