We are thrilled to have made People Management magazine's shortlist for HR/L&D team of the year at the CIPD People Management Awards 2020! Despite what C19 had to throw our way, we didn't let that stop us from stepping up and guiding Hyperoptic through the global pandemic and lockdown that came with it.
One of our engineers, Ali, noticed cable ties weren't always helping his work. There's sometimes an issue with cables getting jammed or damaged when using cable ties over long runs, so he decided to do something about it. Instead of getting frustrated and stressed, he dedicated time to fixing this hurdle in his path. He has come up with a creative way around the problem! This is a prime example of how our love of being innovators in our industry is felt in every facet of Hyperoptic, and we can't help but hear his words of wisdom ringing in our ears, "don't be afraid, jump in and you'll soon learn to swim!" #WeAreHyperoptic
We've launched a new Digital Connectivity Social Value Calculator to enable local authorities to effectively prioritise hyperfast broadband investment. We know from our experience of working with many social housing providers that the challenge is in figuring out where to start. In association with our partners at HACT Housing and Simetrica, we are introducing a framework that enables our clients to systematically and objectively evaluate where our collaboration can bring the most value first, so that those communities can be prioritised. Our ambition is that the Social Value Calculator will serve as a powerful tool for those making decisions within local government and housing associations.

Our engineers are back in the classroom! As a result of COVID-19, we delivered courses online, which was a brilliant alternative to more hands-on training. But we are thrilled that we have adapted our training facility to more face-to-face training that maintains appropriate social distancing. And now, we can concentrate on getting back to developing our new engineers' practical skills. We are passionate about people development, and while C19 has hindered the more physical training we offer, we're thrilled that school is back in session.
