We’re committed to opening doors for residents of social housing through hyperfast broadband. That’s why we’ve partnered with HACT Housing and social value specialists Simetrica-Jacobs to understand the social impacts of providing hyperfast broadband and improving peoples digital skills. Making sure the UK stays connected is our priority, and we've been having a look at the figures to see how people are converting to virtual living. Do you feel like you've adapted well?
We've all had to adapt to a different way of working, and some of our team are picking up new skills in the process. This week we've spoken to Matthew Dollimore, from the Building Installation Team, about how C-19 has impacted his team: “Engineers roles have changed massively since the outbreak of Covid-19 due to the fact that they are no longer doing their day job they have been redeployed to other parts of the business and working in an unfamiliar role. And on the above point I must say they have all adapted brilliantly. No complaints and an excellent attitude taking on new skills getting their heads down and getting on with the challenge.”
5* rating on TrustPilot? We've got it! COVID-19 has been a trying time, but we're thrilled to be one of the highest-rated ISPs. Here's to our employees working remotely, our key workers, and our customers.
This is the kind of praise we can get on board with! One of our engineers, Martin, did such a great job installing, that Instagram's @lierlo did a portrait of him to commemorate the moment.
A few weeks ago we got a call from Stephen, who is helping his community by delivering essentials to the elderly, vulnerable, and NHS workers. He needed high-speed internet to help with his service so contacted us - unfortunately we weren't installed at the property. We weren't going to let that stop us. Projects like this are so important to the community, so we installed the line free of charge, and provided the broadband for free. We're thrilled to report that Stephen has 1Gb speeds so he can get all essentials to those who need them!
In the theme of Kindness this Mental Health Awareness Week, we've been asking our engineers what's keeping spirits high during these strange times, and Lead Engineer, Arturas, had this to share: "The biggest motivator for my team is the opportunity to be able to do something new with the teams in this environment and the fact that they are Key Workers who are keeping The UK and The World connected in time of uncertainty. We've created Teams chats where we can share our experiences, seek advice, and generally have a chat. In these times of uncertainty it's very important for all of us now to know that there is someone out there that will listen and offer their support.”
Thank you to everyone who joined our webinar this afternoon, and to our guest speakers Nicky Dorman, Tony Mitchell, Debra Yudolph and Henry Pethybridge. In case you missed it, we'll be sharing the full recording next week, so keep your eyes peeled!
It's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek, and it's more important than ever to check in with our colleagues during these difficult times. Over the next two weeks we're providing a range activities to encourage people to take breaks, and share how they're feeling. The theme is kindness, and our activities range from laughter yoga and art therapy, to workshops on self-healing techniques and a talk from The Grace Dear Trust. How are you honouring Mental Health Awareness this week?
