With the rise in working from home, and generally spending more time online, the maintenance of our network has never been more important. We've been chatting to Alvin Graham, our head of Network Maintenance, to find out how lockdown has impacted his team. "It's a crucial time for dependency on broadband services, so our engineers are still in the field, helping customers with network incidents and ensuring our service is maintained. Our managers are working from home, and based on C19 guidance, our engineers are being called upon when needed so that we can maintain social distancing. Safety is first and foremost for us, so we have clear guidance of a 2-man working team where needed, and ensuring their using PPE. Despite the on-going pandemic, I'm happy to report that morale is high! We have regular check-ins and everyone seems as joyful as they can be. We're determined that we will all get through this together."
We know just how important fast, reliable broadband is on the day residents move in. Delivering on our Day One Connectivity promise is one of the reasons our developers work with us time and time again. Having just done it again at Wales Farm Road, an Ardmore Group development, James Stevens, Project Manager, has said: “Ardmore have a very strong relationship with Hyperoptic and at Wales Farm Road its been no different. Having worked closely with the Hyperoptic team from very early on in the build it has meant that we have been able to have Hyperoptic deliver their incoming 1Gig service to site well ahead of occupations. The result is that we can hand over each home ready to be connected to the internet the moment the resident moves in to their new home”
We're very proud of the work we do with councils around the UK, and our latest landmark partnership with Leeds council is no different. Nearly 60,000 social housing homes will soon be surfing the web at hyperfast speeds!

With so many people reliant on fast, reliable broadband at the moment, we understand that having a choice in provider is important. Recently we worked with Taylor Wimpey plc on delivering hyperfast internet to their residents, and we're thrilled with what Dominic Littleford, Technical Director, had to say: "Hyperoptic has been part of our standard specification for some time now as we want to provide our residents not only with access to the very best broadband speeds but we also want to give residents a genuine choice of provider. As Hyperoptic share the Openreach ducts and chambers to deliver their service it allows us to do this without the need to install additional infrastructure in the ground so they are a very easy addition for us. With nearly everybody now working from home never has it been more important for the purchaser of a new home be able to connect the moment that they move in. Hyperoptic consistently deliver this.”
We are strong believers in the old adage of 'when life give you lemons', and we have been making plenty of lemonade these days! Last Saturday, one of our engineers, Martin, was faced with conundrum. He needed to connect two new customers to our service, but the distribution point was in a locked room that he could only access with the Building Manager's permission (who worked Mon-Fri). He re-booked a return visit, and it was confirmed he would come back two weeks later to install - but that wasn't good enough for Martin. So instead, he liaised with the Building Manager, arranged to come back the next day, between his already scheduled appointments, and gained access to the distribution point! The two customers were delighted to have their hyperfast broadband up and running in no time. Engineers like Martin are part of the reason we have a 5* TrustPilot rating, and are an accolade to our business. Martin, we salute you!
