We are so excited to announce that we have raised £200,000 for our charity partner, End Youth Homelessness. We launched our partnership last July, with the aim of raising £200,000 across two years, but we're pleased to announce we have already reached the target. Our employees have worked so hard to achieve this, including our recent Moving Through May challenge which saw teams of six walk 1,250km over the month of May. They have also organised sleep outs, bike rides, triathlons, ultra-marathons and participated in other Group events such as Wellbeing Bingo. We will continue to focus our efforts on raising money for End Youth Homelessness and will be hosting our next Group charity event soon, Sleep out in September. Thanks to all our supply chain partners, clients, employees, friends and family that have supported us and our colleagues.
Today, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visited the new Exeter Bus Station which will open to the public on Sunday 25 July. While there, he met the Kier team including Doug Lloyd, operations director for Kier Construction, Western & Wales. During his visit he spoke with some apprentices and colleagues working on our St Sidwell's Point leisure centre project. This is the UK's first Passivhaus standard ultra-low carbon leisure centre, designed to save up to 70% on annual energy consumption, and climate change proof for the next 80 years. His Royal Highness heard about the skills development legacy and was also interested to learn about the Passivhaus Passport Training, which will see the skills learnt transferred onto other UK projects. We are delighted to announce that the Ministry of Defence has today reawarded us Gold in its Defence Employer Recognition (ERS) scheme. Andrew Davies, chief executive of Kier, states: “I am proud of our longstanding commitment to the Armed Forces community and it is testament to the opportunities and initiatives we offer, as well as the policies and community network we have in place, that we have retained our ERS Gold award. “We know and appreciate the skills people from the Armed Forces community possess and we will continue to foster a diverse and inclusive workforce which effectively supports our people and allows them to thrive long after leaving active service.”
Our A13 team in Thurrock has reached a major milestone by successfully demolishing the final bridges on the road widening project. The two Orsett Bridges formed part of the old two-lane Orsett Cock Roundabout and have been replaced with new three-lane structures which are better equipped to cope with the number of road users who travel via the vital junction every day. The demolition of the Orsett Bridges also marks the final element of bridge replacement works required on the project, with Saffron Gardens Bridge and Horndon Bridge previously replaced as part of the same scheme. A13 Project Director Steve Mack said: “Each weekend road closure lasts for 56 hours, but the reality is that many hundreds of hours go into diligently planning and preparing in advance, to enable works to be completed safely and to programme. "I would like to commend the hard work and effort of the entire A13 team, including our sub-contractors and delivery partners for this incredible achievement.”

We are delighted to have completed the new campus at Salvatorian College in Harrow. The transformation of the school’s estate means it now has a range of first-class facilities, including a four-court sports hall, activity studio, IT suites and a further 12 classrooms. As a result of the work we have done as part of the Department for Education’s Priority Schools Building programme, the school now caters for 900 pupils, an increase in capacity by 60%. We’re pleased to announce we have joined the National Hard Hat Recycling Scheme run by Yes Recycling. This means our hard hats can now be sent directly into a dedicated hard hat recycling facility where they will be processed, with all plastic being fully recovered and made back into plastic pellets. These are then used as a raw material to manufacture products such as traffic barriers and road cones meaning all hard hats are fully recycled here in the UK. For more information on this, visit:
