Recently our Regional Civils team completed a project, replacing eroded concrete along a 40m length of Loe Bar Outfall. Loe Bar Outfall prevents The Loe, the largest freshwater lake in #Cornwall, from flooding and major erosion to the concrete outfall surround had left the outfall at serious risk of failing over the coming winter. This concrete had to be replaced by October 2020. A specialist contractor in sprayed concrete application was engaged as soon as we were awarded the works. The work was programmed to be undertaken in 20 shifts throughout September, with a long weekend break in the middle when the tides were not suitable for work to continue. All 20 shifts were undertaken as planned without issue, and the works were completed successfully on 24th September 2020, thus ensuring winter readiness for the outfall. Collaboration with all aspects of our supply chain assisted in producing a successful outcome for this project. To read more about this project, click below:

At Kier our purpose is to sustainably deliver infrastructure which is vital to the UK. For over 90 years we have been delivering for communities across the UK, and now, more than ever, it’s important that we do this sustainably. That's why we're excited to launch our new sustainability framework, Building for a Sustainable World. Our framework looks beyond the ‘green’ trend and instead focuses on building on the good work that Kier has previously undertaken in environmental protection and the creation of social value in the communities we work in. It focuses on two key components; environmental sustainability and social sustainability, with our culture of Performance Excellence focusing on economic sustainability. To read more, visit the below:
