To celebrate National Inclusion Week last week, over 100 of our colleagues got together in Birmingham and online to celebrate our diversity and inclusion successes and discuss the next steps in our journey. It was a brilliant day, bringing together colleagues from all seven of our inclusion networks - each created to offer safe spaces for us to share experiences and learn more from each other. The day was jam-packed with: ⭐ celebrating our successes ⭐ networking at our marketplace to learn more about our networks, charity partners and social sustainability teams ⭐ learning how to enhance our personal brand to help us share our stories ⭐ hearing what our leaders are doing to support D&I at Kier ⭐ working on our active allyship and learning how to support and champion our colleagues
Feeling like a part of something bigger, here is Lorenzo's story so far Lorenzo has been at Kier now since September 2024, as a commercial trainee within our Natural Resources, Nuclear & Networks business.🌊 He joined on a degree apprenticeship in quantity surveying; taking an opportunity to gain a degree without taking on a single penny in student debt! 🎓 “I feel like I’m part of something bigger. I know my role in the team and the team’s role in the wider business – it’s really motivating to feel like that."

Kier's Empowerment Programme is designed to support employees from underrepresented groups to develop into leadership roles. Each participant gets paired up with a member of Kier’s senior leadership team, giving both parties the opportunity to share experiences and learn from each other. Graduate surveyor Rutendo Manyundwa was paired with Kier’s chief people office, Louisa Finlay, giving Rutendo the platform to help Louisa understand more about the challenges underrepresented groups face and what needs to be done to support them going forward. We have today announced that we have agreed to acquire the rail division of Buckingham Group. It will become part of our Kier Transportation business division. The acquisition strengthens our position in the UK rail market, with projects spanning the country. Andrew Davies, chief executive at Kier Group, said: “We have previously stated that we would consider value accretive acquisitions in core markets where there is potential to accelerate the medium-term value creation plan. This acquisition is one such example – it is an excellent strategic fit and accelerates our rail strategy, providing work with new rail clients and increasing our capabilities.
