We have been collaboratively working with Anglian Water Services. Anglian Water to improve the method of installing water meters. The new method saves time on install whilst also reduces end-users cost through faster identification of leaks and more accurate bills. This collaborative programme between Anglian Water Services, Kier Group and Clancy Docwra has been shortlisted for 'Wastewater Innovation Project of the year' for the Water Industry Awards 2020. We have signed contracts to deliver a £150m three-mile dual carriageway on the A585 Windy Harbour and Skippool The project will improve the safety of pedestrians, equestrians and cyclists around the existing A585, as well as reducing congestion and supporting the economic growth potential in Wyre and Fylde.
Kier Highways has been appointed to deliver the 15-month interim highways services contract for Birmingham City Council starting from 1 April and covering more than 2,500km of road and 5,000km of footways in the city. Joe Incutti, Kier Acting Group Managing Director for Highways said “We are delighted to be appointed to the Birmingham Highways contract and have a wealth of experience in successfully designing and maintaining local authority roads.We are looking forward to working alongside Birmingham City Council and Birmingham Highways Ltd on this contract to keep roads in Birmingham safe and reliable.”
Last week we partnered with Buildoffsite and Bison Precast to host a factory visit at one of the manufacturing facilities supplying components for our £253m new build prison at Wellingborough. Forterra PLC's specialist precast division, Bison are providing 4,920 precast components for the project. During the tour, guests were able to see some of the components being produced for the scheme, as well as gain an understanding of the key considerations for manufacturing including storage space, logistics and traceability of components from Bison’s commercial director Mike Nelson. Our procurement lead John Handscomb presented on Kier’s Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) approach at Wellingborough, as well as the collaborative, digital-first culture being adopted by the project team. He also provided an overview of our offsite capabilities and Choice Factory initiative.
