The third annual Glassdoor Summit gathered 700 attendees in San Francisco and over 7,000 livestream attendees. The talent acquisition landscape is rapidly changing and organizations now need to connect the dots between recruiting, talent attraction, and culture in order to stay ahead.
The 2016 Glassdoor Summit featured an impressive lineup of accomplished speakers at the leading edge of transparency, who shared their insights on employer branding and recruiting. Here are three key takeaways from this year’s Summit that you can share with your team and hopefully use to transform your organization.
Embrace Transparency
In the social age, transparency has become increasingly important for organizations both big and small. The proliferation of data and information begotten in the digital age has made the recruiting process inherently more transparent. Candidates appreciate when an organization is transparent, which is why it serves organizations to make transparency and openness a part of their brand. 95% of employees/job seekers say it is important to be thoughtful and informed about a company’s pay philosophy prior to accepting a job offer.
Although workplace transparency can be intimidating, it can play a crucial role in setting your organization apart from your competitors. Transparency lies at the root of employer branding and helps to establish trust between candidates and employees that your organization is aware of the issues and is willing to improve.
Make Culture a Priority
Company culture can be a determining factor for job seekers when deciding between your organization or one of your competitors. It is unique to every organization, which is why it’s important to take the time to codify what your organization’s culture really means.
Ask if the culture that exists is one that you want. If not, how can you inspire others in your organization to work towards the culture that you want? Investing in your culture is investing in the future of your organization.
Understand the Importance of Employer Brand
There is a strong correlation between employer brand and transparency in that a true brand has truth in it. People have loyalty and affinity towards brands so when the trust between people and a brand is broke, the brand is damaged.
Employer branding is storytelling through the eyes of the employees of your organization and it is essential that you’re telling the story correctly. Use Glassdoor to build upon your employer brand through responding to reviews and sharing relevant and engaging content on your employer profile. Perspectives of prospective, current, and former on what your organization’s brand means to them can help you to not only understand your employer brand, but how you can work to enhance it.
