Today, Glassdoor announced the winners of the Employees’ Choice Awards, honoring the Best Places to Work in the U.S. (large employers and SMBs) and in the UK. If you're trying to figure out how to earn this honor for your company so that you can better recruit then this blog is for you. We asked five of the 2015 winners: “What advice do you have for employers looking to become a Best Place to Work?" Here’s what they said. Be open to feedback from employees, good and bad “The positive and constructive feedback we receive from the [Glassdoor company and interview review] survey allows us to continually deliver the best possible experience for employees and prospective candidates. This achievement is due to all of our employees who make Adobe an exceptional place to work. We’re thrilled to be on Glassdoor’s Best Place to Work list as it reflects the true sentiment of our employees and a window into Adobe Life.” -- Jeff Vijungco, VP of Global Talent, Adobe (#18 large company list) Invest in great leaders and trust their direction “My advice would be to develop a cadre of leaders who are empathetic and treat others as adults capable of accomplishing results in their own way.  Many focus on company perks as the only solution to becoming a great place to work. They do have a role to play, but positive leadership behaviors make the biggest difference in the end.” -- Steve Degnan, VP and Head of HR, Nestlé Purina PetCare Company (#3 large company list) Genuinely be open to two-way communication “The days of one-way conversation marketing are long gone. The more transparent you are, the healthier your company culture will be. At Opower, we’ve found that the more we listen to our employees concerns and provide candid, honest responses, the more faith they have in us and we in them. Embrace workplace transparency and empower your employees to speak up—they may have the answers you’re looking for.” -- Chrissy Glover, Employee Brand Manager, Opower (#25 SMB list) and 2014 Glassdoor Talent Warrior Hire people that are right for your company "The best companies are defined by who you work with, not just where you work. We hire superstars because they inspire every employee, instead of rock stars who are about being in the spotlight. A great company is built by people who motivate, challenge and respect each other.” --Greg Schott, President & CEO, MuleSoft (#21 SMB list) Be kind “The loftiness of MediaMath's aspirations has influenced our culture in a very positive way. Even our most brilliant employees are humbled by the scope of our ambitions and even our boldest employees know that we have to collaborate well, be kind always and set aside some time for fun if we're going to keep on speeding toward actualizing our aspirations.” --Peter Phelan, Chief People Officer, MediaMath (#12 SMB list) Learn how you can make the most of your brand on Glassdoor and ways to increase employee engagement.
