We are thrilled to be honored to be a Glassdoor Best Place to Work. Keeping our team strong and maintaining our great corporate culture has been a top priority for us from day one. It’s great to know that that effort has been recognized by the people who matter most – Team CARFAX. As we look back on the past year, we’ve identified how we got here, and wanted to share a few things we learned along the way. Find amazing people—and help them be amazing CARFAX is a unique company, with a very important mission. We do put a lot of thought into making sure we have a best place to work, but the building blocks for us were pretty simple: Hire amazing people and do everything we can to help them be amazing. After all, Team CARFAX is here to help millions of people buy, sell and own used cars with more confidence: Protecting their families and their financial well-being. We have to be at the top of our game and be ready to go whenever needed! Be policy-light Helping our customers is the primary driver of our business objectives. That spirit of help continues with our fellow teammates and inspires all the work we do and products we develop. We believe our decisions are better when they’re based on input from many people. Because we focus outside, on the people who need us, internal politics is kept to a minimum. This community approach creates unique opportunities for personal growth determined by one’s contributions, not defined by the pursuit of meaningless job titles. Share the vision Sharing a common vision is only part of creating an amazing team: You need a game plan if you want to win. At CARFAX we’re laser focused on our goals and every member of the team knows exactly what they need to do to help us get there. Much like a professional sports team, we’ve gathered a group of highly trained players, all with clear roles and responsibilities. When one understands clearly what’s expected, and how one contributes to the success of the company, doubt and second guessing are removed from the equation. In an environment where all the team members have confidence in their contributions, fun comes in. Play CARFAX can have some fun! While we do have video games, a 23’ shufflepuck, and a putting green, that’s not what makes our company fun. The keys for us making work fun are transparency and mutual respect. You see the evidence of it in the laughter and camaraderie in our office. You see it, too, as our teams spend time together outside the office on 100-mile bike rides, 200-mile relay races, and all the other outrageous things we do. When you join CARFAX your family gets a whole lot bigger! Be authentic We shouldn’t overlook, either, the pride that people have working here at CARFAX. Our staff love working at a company their parents know and respect. It’s also not bad having a few friends who are way jealous. We spend a lot of time looking for the best people to join the company. We’re really picky and it may not be easy to join the team, but when you do it’s an amazing feeling. Nobody else has done what we’ve done and nobody else can go where we’re going. For those who join our team the journey will be forever different. We have challenges. What business doesn’t? But our approach to solving problems and our commitment to innovation have put us in a unique group of companies. We’re eager to have others who share a desire to work passionately and challenge conventional wisdom join our team. We believe that maintaining this strong team culture has been the key to our successful growth.
