      Senior Project Support Manager Interview

      Oct 15, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Telephone, TX
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ocado Technology (Telephone, TX) in Oct 2019

      Interview

Hi all, Im here writing my review on the interview process for the job Project Support Manager role at the Hatfield office. So I had applied for this role a short while ago and was invited to have a telephone interview with the current recruitment manager. Upon my telephone conversation I noticed a few things, firstly I was being rushed in which is very rude especially when the initial conversation started off as free flowing. Secondly I was asked a question along the line of 'What was the number of tasks I had to deal within a project', now the problem with this type of question, it demonstrates the lack of understanding of a project role, had research been done in this type of area then they would have known that all projects have different complexities so there wouldn't be a 'one size fits all' answer. Thirdly I was provided negative feedback because at the end of the interview when I was to ask some questions, I simply asked what type of projects are they, such as IT, Business change, Hardware etc, but according to the interviewer she had already discussed with me at the beginning of our call of the 'Business Model' of ocado, which is completely different to what I was actually asking as I was aware that the projects are based around creating CFC sites but i was simply referring to the type of project work WITHIN these projects, and based off this feedback i again could tell she did not understand the role she was recruiting for, and what if I did ask a question which was 'supposedly' answered that shouldn't be a reason to shun someone just because you thought you explained well, because in the real world if you don't understand something, you ask again and there is no shame in that, especially when on the actual call I was told by the interviewer ' Don't worry it actually takes 6 Months to fully understand everything and its not easy to grasp straight away'. Also what is mind boggling is that they wanted someone with strictly line management experience which she would of had to have seen on my CV whether I had that experience or not, so not only my time was wasted but theirs. Lastly to be successful in this interview you have to provide real life examples in you answers to each of the question, now apparently all my answers were 'Theory' which doesn't make any sense because almost all my answers were based on real life work experiences, and to be honest even if it was 'Theory' as long as someone describes how they would deal with a situation that should be enough information to evaulate as a interviewer how one would respond any given situation. I have been to a lot of successful interviews where the interview provides competencies based questions on 'Theory' so it should not matter and it shows the competency of the interviewer Overall I think the process was okay but the interviewer definitely needs some improvement on their end, or actually get someone who has experience of projects to be the interviewer for this type of role. It's bad enough that they had someone that's only been in post for 6 Months to interview candidates and clearly doesn't understand the role to call the shots. No wonder the bad reviews on here Just for anyone seeing this, any feedback you receive from this person I would take it with a pinch of salt
