      Interview

Very rigorous, thorough and equal in terms of parity amongst candidates. There were a few technical issues in my case, the website was a bit tricky to navigate, but that was dealt with swiftly enough. Lovely people

      Interview

The development centre consists of several parts: a one-on-one interview, a group task, and a 4-minute teaching sample. After both the group task and teaching sample you evaluate your performance with an interviewer and are given the opportunity to repeat the teaching sample incorporating the feedback you received. I completed the development centre remotely however I believe there is also an in-person option. I have done several graduate scheme interviews/ assessment centres and Teach First was by far the most comfortable and confident I have felt, would even say I enjoyed the day. It is clear that the interviewers want you to do well and so I was made to feel at ease by all of the recruiters I met throughout the day as well as the candidates. Because of the nature of the scheme (it is a huge employer with multiple different avenues), candidates are not in direct competition with one another which takes a lot of pressure off during the group task. Advice I would give to any potential candidates would be not to worry about the teaching sample as I did, it is over very quickly and is definitely an enjoyable experience compared to most other graduate scheme interviews. This is the part of the development centre I believe most candidates stress about, however it only makes up 1/3 of the tasks so I strongly recommend that you spend just as much time preparing your interview answers e.g. by thinking about what exactly it is about teaching that excites you, planning STAR answers to the 'tell me about a time when' questions. If you are organised and familiarise yourself with the technology (accessing Zoom, Screen Sharing etc) you should be fine.

      Question 1

Candidates are asked not to share interview questions following the development centre. I would say, however, that there are just as many questions about your views on teaching itself as there are questions about your experiences so candidates should be aware of this.
