I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Vercel
Interview
It looks like they had hired who they needed to because I didn't move forward pass the initial call. However, you can tell a lot about the recruiting team and the company when the candidate experience is poor. Had to follow up over and over again throughout the entire process to get closure.
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at Vercel in Aug 2024
Interview
I was submitted to the team and asked to have a call with the hiring manager the following week. The call was really strange; not only did it feel like I was an inconvenience and being GRILLED, but she clearly wasn't listening as she asked the same question multiple times. When I asked what the culture was like, she basically said it's toxic and not a "warm and fuzzy place" and there is a lot of bias in the hiring process.
I chose to withdraw as soon as I hung up.
I applied online. I interviewed at Vercel (London, England) in Nov 2023
Interview
On the the tin the company looks great. Amazing technology, great space and market opportunity. Only problem is the people. GTM is riddled with C players or worse who've never been successful before and definitely not playbook MEDDPIC top 5% individuals. CRO had only managed mid-market before taking this role with a total of 7 years experience (most of that inside sales), EME presales director gave a 20 min monologue in my 30 min interview with him.... Zero structure, process or mapped strategy (seems like they're purely surfing off the back of how good the product is). Engineering folk I spoke with were very good and high calibre but highlighted the only problems they saw with the organisation were leadership (founder and friends) and churn. VCs need to step in if this company's going to execute within their window.
