Pros

High staff turnover ensures you always get to meet new people . You'll lose plenty of weight from stress and exhaustion. If you apply then congratulations you've got an interview and the job.

Cons

Salaries are very low, pay progression is glacial, training is non-existent. This company makes money by over working staff and cutting corners wherever possible. The job is mind numbingly repetitive, the smells are foul and the verbal onslaught from a certain senior staff member will leave you wanting to swear and walk out. Upon applying the managers will do everything to put you off taking up the job, if you still apply thinking they're exaggerating then this is what you can expect. -You will be asked to sign a load of 'training sheets , though time won't be provided to read those sheets, also remember to sign for life insurance in case you die on the premises. -Next get to your station, choose wisely as this 1 square meter of paradise on earth is where you will be spending most of your twelve hours, i recommend a window view as opposed to the view of the concrete walls -Stretch your legs, forgetting to stretch prior to your twelve hour standing only stint can lead to serious muscular damage, but remember if you do hurt yourself then you've put the company at risk and so expect to be fired. -Next, choose your implements, but remember to get in quick as the good tweezers and knives get taken quickly. -now let the fun begin. Open the food bag , cut off a sample and bin the rest. If that sounds like fun then good news because this is exactly what you'll be doing repeatedly all day every day for the rest of your life. If your a man don't panic yet because as a man there are certain privileges. As a man congratulations you've been randomly selected to empty all the industrial bins, but be careful rotting food does have a tendency to make newbies gag. This is a terrible company and a truly unacceptable job. I know by looking on this page you're considering working here but just don't. You won't get any real lab experience , you will constantly be tired, stressed irritable and exhausted and by the time you get home you won't have the energy to apply elsewhere.

Pros

dont need any qualifications or experience as company doesn't give a damn about the accuracy of results.

Cons

Very much quantity rather than quality. The standard practice is to hire three new staff, see which one works the fastest, then sack the other two. Quite often only a weeks probation period is given to new staff, and if they can't keep up with the ludicrous pace, they get sacked. The speed at which one is expected to work, and the number of food samples tested mean that microbiological techniques are not followed correctly, and staff don't even wear gloves or store food samples properly. (No wonder that use by dates are so inaccurate.)

Pros

Some of the people I worked with were nice but anyone with any sense leaves as soon as possible.

Cons

Workload is really high. The pace you are expected to work at to get through all the samples left people in pain/with rsi. Some people would start a job there and leave either the same day or a few days later. It says a lot when people quit before even really starting. Staff are rude and don't motivate or thank you for going above and beyond. They will teach you what to do and then when it comes to audit, teach you an alternative way of doing things. My advice would be to never even contemplate working here. If i can prevent even just one person having to endure working here, then writing this review was worth taking the time to do.
