Pros

They make it very attractive with unlimited holidays and a cool culture but it is all a lie. The only pros are: good name clients and an interesting product

Cons

-The workload is so intense that you will want to take days off to catch up on work. They give you unlimited holidays but it is at your own risk, your workload or quota is not going to go away. They close the company once a month for everyone to have a day off but they know that people will work it so it's a lie and it's a cheap way to pretend they care. Give unlimited and free holiday because you know everyone will actually work... -The culture is all pretend, no support at all. They all say, they are here if you need but actually it's everyone for themselves. -They don't give you the tools to learn everything you need ! (Or if they do, you are expected to learn everything in no time, working late nights to do so...) -Management is passive aggressive... it's actually your fault if something doesn't go well and your manager won't have your back.

We're sorry to hear that your experience at Algolia wasn't what you expected. We care deeply about our employee's well-being and encourage all team members to take time to recharge when needed. Algolia’s Flexible Paid Time Off Policy gives full-time exempt employees flexibility and responsibility in terms of how they manage their work. Employees are free to choose when to take flexible paid time off, and in return we ask that employees exercise good judgment and common sense. We work with leaders across every organization to ensure that our policy is fair and equitable to our team members and is neither neglected nor abused. Our policy is market standard and a common practice at many tech companies. Kristie Rodenbush, CHRO

Pros

- Used to be better - Good perks

Cons

- An unhealthy environment. - Everyone is on edge most of the time, collegues are often not considerate when communicating, they are often defensive, retaliatory or aggressive - Weak management. Do not expect support/care from your manager; mine sometimes makes me feel I am the problem when I bring concerns about the poor work environment. I also sometimes feel manipulated. - Poor accountability on leaders. Managers are not held accountable for poor management, but they are quick to use accountability as an excuse to put pressure and enforce unreasonable expectations. - Poor wellbeing support. In spite of the perks, I feel like I am on my own in this company to manage workplace pressure/stress. - The workload is high, especially in backend. They often use fake deadlines to pressure us to do more. There is a strong push for multitasking and we're often spread too thin across multiple tasks. - Understaffed, especially on backend engineering. There is no time to recharge and take stock, and the pressure is always on. - No care, little humility, no accountability to align with their values and clearly uphold their code of conduct. If you still want to work here, you need to be tough-skinned, strongly resilient, and you need to know how to say no and resist pressure. If you're a caring person, look elsewhere; your kindness may be wasted and go unacknowledged.

Pros

Developer culture or what's left of it after years of reorgs Passionate people Cutting edge products

Cons

Good people leaving all the time and no one questions their managers. A lot of favoritism and internal competition. Culture went downhill irreparably.
