Pros

The salary is good if you’re after a comfortable safe life. No one ever gets fired for doing a bad job! No one. So if you are looking for a very well paid company where you can work from home as much as you want and people will not notice if you’re not actually doing anything. Centrica is for you.

Cons

The strategy is a joke. And the people implementing it are not bothered about success because they’ll get their big salaries, bonus and job security at the expense of shareholders. No internal promotion. Any time a vacancy arises they look for external candidates from a hip company. In finance you are constantly asked to fudge the forecasts to make it look like managements view of the truth and then they blame “external headwinds” when it isn’t delivered. Not comfortable doing this.

Pros

Good pension scheme after 2 years. Able to work from home.

Cons

Wage rises are small - the bonus system is used instead but then ways are found to reduce payments artificially. Little staff development - but happy to hire a contractor long-term at inflated rates. Promotion dependent on who you know rather that what you know.

Pros

good commission package (for now) good sickness policy, maternity etc flexi hours

Cons

constant threat of redundancy changes to job role without prior warning or consent threat of removing a commission scheme which has been paid for around 20+ years and which people have become financially dependant on fear of not being believed if off sick- sickness within my department is at an all time high and role is a lot higher paid than other similar roles- even the money isnt enough any more.
