Pros

I only had a 1 month notice period

Cons

- Sweatshop environment for SWEs, where you will be worked to the bone and micro-managed by people of low talent who know virtually nothing about engineering - Many staff are being forced to take on additional responsibilities without a pay rise - some are essentially running subsidiaries while earning 50% less than they should - Staff pressured into filling out internal feedback forms and posting positive reviews here on Glassdoor - Timesheets and little trust given to engineers - Fear-driven environment where you will be constantly made to feel afraid of losing your job - Aggression, bullying, and shouting, overall, a shockingly poor culture - Extremely low pay, with many employees earning up to 50% below the national average for their profession - 2 rounds of redundancies per year - Frequent re-orgs Only accept an offer from this company if you're desperate.

First off – I’m very sorry to hear about your experience – especially the bit about shouting and bullying. That’s not something that we recognise, and not something we accept – so if you’re comfortable please do drop me an email and we can set up a chat as I’d really like to find out more. On your point about forcing people to leave give feedback and leave positive reviews – that’s just not something we do. We regularly provide to opportunity for people to share thoughts through engagement surveys and we do mention GlassDoor when people have feedback to share – but it is entirely optional. Please do drop me a line as I’d really like to better understand your experience so we can do something about it - jbrain@clearcourse.co.uk.

Pros

As someone who’s worked in my fair share of challenging places, I firstly find the Diversity slating confusing. I tick a number of “boxes” and have faced discrimination in previous roles, yet what is refreshing is that it’s just such a non-issue here. Having not been white enough or male enough in previous roles, I feel neither here. The range and mix of colleagues I work with, to me, demonstrate the fact we are trying to employ the right person for a role, not the right person based simply on an agenda. Our CEO - Christina. Not entirely sure why her focus on making us a profitable business is a qualm. Profits = investment back into business, pay rises, job security. What would be a bigger issue is if our leader didn’t give a poop about that! Internal mobility - being part of a bigger organisation gives the ability for career progression that isn’t available within a smaller business. I’m watching the business actively promote and recruit from within. General stability - I’ve had colleagues tell me that if not part of the group, their business would have gone under during Covid. All businesses go through challenging times, but being part of a larger organising gives more protection than part of a small one. CEO vision - Christina is very active in talking to us all. Her stance on cascading info and an open door policy for access, is incredibly refreshing. The people - I work with a wonderfully diverse group, who are kind and just want to do a good job, as well as help and support each other. And this is both through the division and upwards into the leadership team. I honestly struggle to recognise the business I work in with some of the reviews here - but I suppose people are always quicker to complain than compliment.

Cons

Hearing frustrations about “them”. Clearcourse didn’t kidnap the employees in acquired businesses, that beloved founder sold the business they work in. Change can of course be tough, but perhaps frustrations are being directed in the wrong place.
