Pros

Great for grads Good starting salary (but don't fall into the trap of thinking you can't get it elsewhere)

Cons

For context, I didn't leave on bad terms OR with an angry mentality, I also wasn't graced with an exit interview but this doesn't bother me. Recent HR meetings with 'market managers' have been advised this by HR as an excuse for the poor working environment leading to an abundance of negative Glassdoor reviews. Note - Glassdoor reviews have been removed over the last few months. It has also recently come to light that apparently the 'market managers' have a joint WhatsApp group in direct relation to all these Glassdoor reviews where they gossip and discuss who has written what/what has been written. Shouldn't this be taken seriously rather than mocked? To all those looking at applying? Don't. To give an accurate picture of the state of the department.. 9 researchers have given in/left the company in the last month.. more in the pipeline.... the great resignation is true.. for CoStar anyway! This company has so much potential as does the research department but it's simply not executed in the way it should be. Management are bullies. Either they are terrified of their director (who in turn is terrified of their Vice President) or put simply a complete sociopath. You will be forced into a corner to make your manager look successful but they will be the first to turn on you if something doesn't work for them. CoStar brings out the worst in the managers. Working from home was great. We could get back some additional hours from travelling which would normally be wasted crying yourself to sleep each night. As previously mentioned the return to office was declared for September but in no capacity was it explained how it was going to look in till 4 days later. Attempting to coax us back in with sushi and pizza really didn't do the trick when we have to be faced with the daily misery of the office. Why don't you leave you ask? CoStar makes you feel worthless, incompetent and unworthy of doing any other job. Your confidence is slowly chipped away of the time you spend being gaslighted by your manager. The researchers/CRC's are far more valuable then the 'Managers' who are actually glorified auditors who barely do any work.

Pros

Good salary for recent graduates/if you're new to the industry Colleagues in the research team are supportive in your collective misery

Cons

Expect the role that you applied for to be completely different to the one you're doing 6 months down the line. The job role and targets are constantly changing with little to no warning from senior management. They are always adding additional work to your responsibilities with no adjustment of your previous workload, just selling it as a "Large company with a start up mentality" when in reality they are just making other roles redundant and piling on the work to the research department. The call target system is completely flawed and broken. It purely depends on sheer luck on whether you are assigned companies that are happy to speak to you or not. If not you will have to find pointless reasons to call companies purely to make your stats look good, with no important or meaningful data being added to the system. This is because of a fear based target system where you're always an arms length from a disciplinary or HR meeting on your performance. Because of CoStar's reputation for hounding and bothering agents you're treading on egg shells on every call you make praying that they don't hang up on you before you get the required 90 seconds!! It's always uplifting to hear someone say "Alright let's get this over with" or let out a massive sigh every time you say you're from CoStar. The culture is so incredibly toxic, most managers only care about covering their own back and making themselves look good. They would rather you make up the data to hit the targets and are the first to chuck you under the bus when senior staff raise any issues. Majority of staff are miserable and that reflects in the abysmal engagement survey results but yet nothing changes! Any time a complaint is made managers remind you of "how well we pay you" as if a good salary is meant to justify complete lack of staff happiness and job satisfaction? The job gets extremely tedious very fast as you do the exact same thing every day until the month resets and it starts all over again. You become a soulless zombie counting down the hours till it gets to 5pm. Do not expect a role where your skills of research and Real Estate are developed. In reality this is an outbound call centre job with a nice view from the office.

Pros

The staff below management are generally nice and friendly.

Cons

The company are telling employees to put positive reviews on here recently. Look at the trend in score over the last few months. It is so obvious what the company are doing but instead of addressing the problems they decide to threaten people. Oh, and they lied about the closure of the Glasgow Office. Says it all really.
