Pros
The pay is higher than many similar housekeeping roles in the area, and most colleagues were friendly and supportive, which helped make difficult shifts more manageable.
Cons
The housekeeping department was chronically understaffed, which led to unrealistic workload expectations. Room allocation targets did not reflect real working conditions and did not account for heavily soiled rooms or non-cleaning tasks. Training and induction were minimal and disorganised, rotas were often issued at short notice despite promises otherwise, and there was an unspoken expectation to work beyond scheduled hours. When concerns were raised, management support felt limited.
