A culture of minimising safeguarding issues - Residential Support Worker Blue Mountain Homes Employee Review

Pros

Lots of enjoyable activities with the children, good autonomy without micromanagement, and some genuinely lovely colleagues.

Cons

Concerns raised regarding the safety and wellbeing of children are not acted upon. This appears to be part of a wider organisational culture that extends to the highest levels of management, including the DSL. Instead of appropriate disciplinary action, staff are often moved between homes. There is a strong sense that maintaining the organisation’s OFSTED rating is prioritised over genuine child welfare.

Pros

Part of a family for definite, you are looked after and loved! Diversity of my job is fantastic as I Have many roles. Taught me so much about the care sector and challenges! Have learnt about my self and new skills at the same time. I feel I'm making a difference in my role.

Cons

You end up caring too much! Stressful at times and shocking what young people go through before entering our care.
