Pros

If you work hard, demonstrating the company values alongside British Values with an open mind and willingness to learn more then there are no boundaries. The company recognises hard work which is often met with reward. There is a family feel element of working for GTG who are owned by Arnold Clark. As an employee you receive all the benefits Arnold Clark employees receive and they are fantastic! The delivery staff are highly skilled and knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. The senior management has since changed and from all accounts, for the better. I found GTG to be an excellent company to work with, and I say with as opposed to ‘for’ due to the team ethos the training centres create….. even with 4 centres throughout England and Scotland, it is very much 1 company with collaboration at every angle.

Cons

Middle management (at the time) was micro managed, there was no real autonomy to mange effectively. However, as above, they have had somewhat of a restructure and it would appear this is no longer the case which is commendable and shows that GTG are pro active in increasing performance, standards and the working environment.

Pros

I have been with GTG for a number of years and I find it an ideal working environment for someone who thrives on a challenge, Here you create your own programme based on a working caseload without it being overstretched, I have needed operational support on occasion and it has always been there whether that is on the end of the phone or email. You do get the satisfaction of developing new players into your industry without management hand-holding you throughout the process, this easily outweighs the added benefits of the bonus scheme above and beyond the competitive salary and company cars! Would I move on to another employer - not on your nelly!

Cons

You are left to your own devices once you have gone through the induction process unless you need the additional support, that is where you realise the support available to you is from a team of like-minded professionals who have all been through the process. You could argue that there isn't enough pay, the hours are too long and any other general argument aimed at private sector employers. the point is that if you work hard the rewards are there!
