Although most people are nice and believe the company values, the ones who are not nice... can be really awful...but they are good at their jobs. You can be great at your job but a very nasty person and do very well here. I think that the worst type of company is the kind that shouts loudly about culture and values of inclusion and diversity then harbours the most toxic behaviours, gaslights employees, visibly and disproportionally promotes certain people based on demographics (native languages spoken, gender etc.) and ignores everyone else. It's like a 1980 office dystopia wrapped in a shiny modern tech company shell. Serious cracks in their humanity a few times by enforcing arbitrary rules and disregarding the personal circumstances of individuals. Hierarchy is real, I don't mean by job role and level, I mean by internal politics based on who you are, your gender, your colour, your connections. If you are a high-functioning sociopath, you'll do very well here.
