Pros

One of the highlights has been the exposure to different areas of the business and the trust placed in me to manage stakeholder relationships, coordinate processes, and contribute to ongoing improvements. It’s a great role for someone who enjoys being organised, working with people, and balancing multiple priorities. The team culture is strong, and there’s a genuine focus on collaboration and development. I’ve felt supported in building my skills in account management, communication, and operations, and there’s always room to take initiative and get involved in new projects.

Cons

While I’ve had a positive overall experience, there are a few areas that could be improved. At times, the role would benefit from more streamlined systems and processes to support efficiency, particularly when managing multiple priorities and high volumes of work. Stronger or more integrated systems would help reduce manual work and make it easier to track tasks and information across different areas. This would also help improve consistency and allow more time to be focused on higher-value work rather than administrative follow-ups.

Pros

Training opportunities Career progression if needed Hit or miss if your team is going to be nice and helpful Friendly clients Free treatments

Cons

1 half an hour break for a 10 hour shift 1 in 1 out - sometimes have 10 minutes for a client from the minute they walk in the door until they leave. Pay not great for the amount of effort you put in

Pros

It's a good job to get your foot in the industry, as it's very fast-paced. The colleagues I worked with were great; we all shared the same feelings. The exposure to so many clients provided valuable experience.

Cons

Bonuses were extremely unfair. At the location I worked at, therapists could only reach their targets if they met the injectables goal, meaning we had to cross-sell laser customers on skin treatments and injections. If we didn’t meet this target, we couldn’t achieve our overall goal. The target was 5-6 customers a month, but not everyone wants injections, especially in today’s climate. When I first started, bonuses were only given if the entire team met the laser target, not just if you achieved it individually, which was really unfair. Management was another issue. The clinic owner was very condescending and completely unsupportive. During my interview, they essentially said that if you're ever sick, just take a Panadol and come in because this industry is too tough to call in sick. That was a huge red flag for me. The management team was highly unprofessional, and it was clear they only promoted people who sucked up to them and didn’t voice their opinions, which was horrible. Taking annual leave was something everyone was afraid to do, and the work culture was toxic. I would never go back to working for a chain because their ethics and morals are non-existent—they only care about how much money they can make from each customer, regardless of their financial situation. - you have 2-5 minutes to clean your room after each client and average about 25-30 clients a day. It's exhausting and they only give you two 30 minute breaks for a 8:30am and 9:30pm finish. How do you expect your employees to work optimally. Yes, the beauty award does state this but if a client cancels allow your employees to take a breather.
