Pros

The company works as one P&L across all offices (London, Paris, Brussels, Singapore) which fosters collaboration and teamwork. The company decided against taking financial backing from a private equity firm so continues to focus on client service over quarterly margins The benefit packages are extremely generous (parental leave is 90% for 9 months, above industry standard for holiday entitlement, and pension contribution is 15% from Miller if you put in 5%.) The previous CEO was very traditional, but the new CEO is very forward thinking promoting agile working, inclusion and diversity with a focus on using IT to remain relevant in the distribution chain. Miller tends to punch above its weight with the big alphabet Broking houses with some prestigious long standing clients. Has an impeccable reputation which they work very hard to maintain Miller is very innovative in bringing new products to market and there is a lot of support from the top down for new ideas New shiny offices with good facilities like showers etc Staff retention very high Profitability margin is high and growth of the business over the last 5 years has been consistently high

Cons

Lots of lifers who maybe haven’t kept pace with change Quite traditional and slow to make decisions Pay rises at the lower levels is slow, but once established then pay/bonus above industry average Their mantra of always to do the right thing can mean that some opportunities are passed over because senior management aren’t comfortable, like expanding into new terrritories They haven’t quite grasped that good brokers don’t necessarily make good managers Some senior partners are extremely underwhelming and have ended up in those positions by just being there a long time Not enough lockers to go round

Retaining and engaging our people is crucial for our success and we regularly review our talent pools, succession plans and development support; we plan to build out this activity following the introduction of our new role-based career pathway. Managers play a critical role in our success and employee’s experiences at work, and we are continuing to build the development support we give our managers. Individuals in our business do have job titles but it is right to say that we do not refer to these in our daily work; it’s helpful to know the impact you think this has, so thank you again for your thoughtful review.

Pros

People are hard working and knowledgeable. Company will provide resources to help you grow. If you are a take charge individual you can do very well here.

Cons

Make sure you receive commitment from reporting manager. (Some are better than others and that can have a huge impact on your growth at the company.)
