Pros

The staff is treated well, both as employees and as individuals. The mental and physical health of all the staff is of very high priority and support is given above and beyond what is required by law or contract. A large amount of effort is put into making PODFather have a good working environment (unlimited ice cream, tea, coffee, fizzy drink, chocolate, peanuts, fruit and social events with food paid by the company). Very low power distance in the company means that anyone can go talk with anyone else, this includes the directors of the company that has an open door policy. The company allows for vertical movement, previous examples are developer -> sales, developer -> account manager & developer -> manager.

Cons

Still stuffers under technical debt accrued over the past decade. Grown faster than structures to cope with the growth, meaning that there is sometimes a lack of control; a concerted effort has already been started to deal with this though. The experience level of developers is relatively low due to fast growth and fierce competition for experienced developers in Edinburgh.

Great review and your comments mean a lot. What 19 year old tech company doesn't have some technical debt? Modernising this is all part of the fun.

Pros

A handful of good people doing their best in a difficult environment.

Cons

By far one of the most toxic working environments I’ve encountered. The company relies on an outdated tech stack and operates through entrenched cliques, limiting growth, innovation, and fairness. Junior staff are largely left to sink or swim. Steer clear. Genuinely.

Pros

Incredible benefits including mental health support and long term sickness benefits. Most supportive employer I've ever worked with. I'll miss working with them.

Cons

A fear reinventing their product may be holding them back from taking the lead.
