Pros

Across my near-decade at Renaissance, I have felt a true connection to our company's mission statement to accelerate learning for all by directly (and indirectly) supporting teachers, schools and students. The change to remote working since the pandemic has provided unbelievable benefits to my work/life balance and I have got to meet a wide range of great and engaging colleagues both in London and around the globe.

Cons

In the last 12 months, there has been an ever declining morale from staff with our new UK leadership. Actions are being taken with very little regard for the ramifications and wellbeing of staff, with UK SLT often making comments and decisions that conflict with messaging and goals from US ELT - a deliberate decision has been made by the new UK SLT to no longer record meetings which many believe is, in part, so they cannot be held accountable. Comments are made in this non-recording meetings, with one UK SLT member saying staff will be disciplined for talking about pay despite it being a protected right in the UK. Morale is lower now than I have seen in any company in my working career and it is taking the US involvement to try and solve it. There is no leadership from the UK to ensure staff wellbeing is protected, opting for a get-in, get-out approach following 20-25% of Renaissance UK being made redundant (not for budget, but because there are too many heads). Leadership have a bias towards colleagues they have managed for extensive periods, perhaps unconscious but notable by both legacy Renaissance colleagues and the GL staff who are witnessing the reverse takeover (as described by UK SLT).

Pros

Some of the most amazing people you’ll ever work with. Generally supportive peers. Leaders are kind and not intentionally toxic. Strong brand recognition and a variety of solutions to enable solution selling.

Cons

The culture of the organization seems to have succumbed to the broader climate surrounding politics and education. Immense pressure is placed on sales team to deliver in saturated territories with beyond unachievable quotas for some and cake quotas for others. No cost of living increases, lots of layoffs and unclear path for growth with an egregious lack of transparency from leadership about the glaring issues. NONE of this seems intentional or malicious-it just seems like a lot of behaviors caused by extreme desperation.
