Pros
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Mayflower Court Care Home for the past 15 months, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. The home fosters a culture of compassion, respect, and genuine care—not just for residents but for the staff as well. I’m lucky to be part of a fantastic team where collaboration is second nature. Everyone pulls together to ensure residents receive the best possible care. There’s a real “all hands on deck” mentality, and the teamwork makes every shift feel meaningful and well-supported. Our manager deserves special mention—she’s approachable, attentive, and truly invested in the wellbeing of her team. Knowing that leadership listens and cares makes a big difference in the day-to-day work experience. This role has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Supporting individuals with varying needs, especially those living with dementia, has deepened my passion for care and strengthened my skills in meaningful ways. Mayflower Court is more than just a workplace—it’s a place where people matter, and where every effort counts toward making life better for those we support.
Cons
The role can be emotionally and mentally challenging, but that’s part of working in care
