Pros
- Talented individuals/co-workers to learn from. - Scope for personal and professional development with ties to online learning communities.
Cons
I entered TCS on the grad scheme. Shortly after joining, our entire support team seemed to forget our batch's existence. There was no support or guidance from the HR team within the UK and while on secondment in India for a lengthy 'training' period (consisting of poorly structured, regurgitated talks and mundane web based training), there was very poor support and guidance from the HR team there also. Although there had been back and forth communication between the batch and our HR lead for months regarding start dates, locations, individual job descriptions etc., the person to whom I was to report to on my first day in the office was completely unaware of who I was and what I was doing there. I have since been left to my own devices after numerous requests to many different levels of the business for exposure/shadowing opportunities/some recommended rotations or learnings to help my professional development. In comparison to other grad schemes, where new hires have clear, defined objectives and responsibilities from the very beginning of their careers, TCS seems to care very little about the development of the future of their business.
