Pros

• Amazing career progression and training opportunities • A real family feel, everyone is valued and the company is always looking for ways to show colleague appreciation • Flexible and compressed hours are really handy! • Company benefits make such a difference, not to mention the childcare discount! I have worked for the company for 8 years now, starting as an apprentice and progressing to a management position. I love my job and the opportunities it has opened up for me. I am proud to work for one of the most recommended, established and sustainable early years education providers in the South and be part of the amazing work Tops does!

Cons

The sector as a whole is not recognised as it should be, but that is beyond our control.

Pros

The only real positive is the team you work with day to day. Colleagues are supportive, and you build strong bonds going through a challenging environment together. Watching the children grow, develop, and hit milestones is genuinely rewarding and the main reason many staff stay as long as they do.

Cons

Management is heavily profit-driven, often at the expense of both staff wellbeing and the quality of care provided to the children. There is a clear disconnect between what is best for the children and the decisions being made at a management/company level. Staffing levels are consistently low, which puts unnecessary pressure on employees and impacts the standard of care. This is made worse by a high turnover of staff, meaning there is little consistency for the children or the team. Management shows little genuine care or support for staff, and both employees and children can feel like numbers rather than individuals. Concerns are often overlooked, and there is a lack of meaningful action to address ongoing issues.
