Can't recommend FNZ

Pros

The pay is competitive, decent benefits including healthcare and employee pension contributions. There are well-developed policies on diversity and inclusion and I don't think discriminatory behaviour would be tolerated, though I've never witnessed any. FNZ takes its regulatory obligations seriously and there is a lot of training to ensure everyone understands their place in this, although it's all online courses so not sure how truly effective it is.

Cons

The biggest downside is the mass, arbitrary dismissals such as has just happened (July 2023) with 15% of the workforce being removed. I understand that there may be financial reasons to reduce costs, but quite recently we have been told that FNZ is doing well financially. The worst thing about the lay-offs is that they seem to make no reference to the value or performance of the people dismissed, it's completely arbitrary. FNZ has no regard for, or loyalty towards, the people it employs. You could come to work here, give it your all, buy into all the corporate narrative about changing the world for the better, and still be fired with no warning. The second big downside is the corporate culture of working long hours and weekends just to do your normal job. Projects are 'ambitious' in their timescales and under-resourced, leaving everyone to work like a maniac just to keep up. This sort of thing would be OK if it were the exception, but it seems to be the everyday experience for a lot of people. And even if you do sacrifice the rest of your life to meet the crazy demands of work, that doesn't mean a thing when next next round of job cuts comes along (see above).

Pros

The colleagues on the project I am on are fantastic, some of the best people I've worked with. Starting salary and potential benefits are decent

Cons

The Group CEO micro-manages every single thing right down to what individuals are working on what project. How on earth would he know who is best for what project? His only contact with them is in "Town Halls" where he threatens people and tells them work life balance isn't one of the company core values. He threatens everyone with the sack to try and make them work harder (they're already flat out and working ridiculously long days). He has just made a huge number of people redundant with zero consultation. "Incentive" payments to get people to try and hit the hugely over promised targets haven't been paid for months and months because they're all stuck with the same person waiting for approval. Guess who that is? With proper management and proper HR policies, this could be an excellent company because of the amazing staff, but it will remain one of the worst employers until the Group CEO is removed from his position

Pros

A majority of the people are honest and hardworking. If you want to find your mental and physical breaking points, working at FNZ will definitely help with this.

Cons

Senior management (C-level, MD etc) and those reponsible for managing client relationships will happily and frequently provide false and misleading information internally and to clients. The UK business is on its knees due to extensive and repeated lay offs and an unwillingness to backfill the vast majority of resignations. Evening and weekend working is pretty much expected and sometimes forced with threat of 'consequences'. The workplace technology is dire, due to years of underinvestment. Pay rises are sporadic, don't join expecting annual reviews and automatic increases. Same goes for bonuses. Can also be s truggle to receive payment and incentives for overtime worked. The company pays lip service to diversity, inclusion and wellness. Our D&I leader was paid off in the latest round of cuts, and wellness month was cancelled. The company literally flies by the seat of its pants. The degree of disorganisation, fire fighting, short termism and 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' is second to none. The company pays lip service to diversity, inclusion and wellness. Our D&I leader was paid off in the latest round of cuts, and the CEO's idea of wellness is giving you log in credentials for an online support portal that you will not have the time to use.
