Pros

Family and friends day monthly. Learning and development $10,000 spend per year. Employee stock program. Discretionary bonus. Provided company laptop with 3 year refresh.

Cons

Cool handbook but no one actually lives by the values. Very cult-like and people try too hard to flex knowledge without being helpful. Async culture is used when convenient but tons of meetings throughout the workday which makes it hard to get any real work done. Lower pay than companies of equivalent size.

Pros

The culture is supportive, everyone on the team helps each other succeed. Leadership has very intelligent strategy and transparently communicates this internally and publicly. The Gitlab single DevOps platform created this space and is leading the marketplace. Most of our customers are raving fans of the product, it's that good. The all-remote culture is intentionally crafted to cultivate collaboration and teamwork to produce winning results.

Cons

Haven't noticed anything lacking or needing improvement that Gitlab leadership hasn't already identified in transparency and communicated a plan to address. This company moves quickly execute on its plans so I have a lot of confidence in its ability to execute. My employment at Gitlab exceeds my expectations.

Pros

-The ability to work anywhere asynchronously with your co-workers. The new found freedom gained with your loved ones and or family is life changing. -Working with highly motivated and highly intelligent individuals. With the company's core values, everyone is expected to be engaged for our and our clients betterment. -GitLab is an amazing product for DevOps and DevSecOps. There aren't any places you will work where you get credibility from industry peers by name alone.

Cons

-The company requires highly motivated self-starters. Due to the nature of a remotely distributed company with asynchronous work, you will need be scrappy at collecting data and good at your own project management. -While GitLab does a fantastic job of creating social events to kindle relationships between peers, it obviously will never have the same kind of social environment as an in-person employer.
