Pros

Fast paced environment where individual success is rewarded. You are responsible for your own success which equates to being responsible for how much you earn. Great colleagues to work alongside too, and the industry training you receive is second to none.

Cons

The job is all encompassing so you may end up working long hours and a lot of effort is required....however this isn't a con if like myself you are ambitious and in a great team full of like minded people!

Pros

Can ultimately move you on to bigger and better, and can get you up to speed with onboarding, compliance, and the candidate-led skills the HR/TA career would be looking for.

Cons

Poor base pay for the stress you are constantly under. Managers expect no work/life balance, I've been told that I should spend weekends prepping call lists for a Monday morning. LinkedIn messages and emails sent from managers at 8 pm on a Saturday, then being asked at 8 am on Monday if I'd managed to action it. No, of course I haven't. Your job is constantly held over you. You can be billing like mad, then the first couple of zeros come in, and you will be told to improve this or be asked to leave. The current market and climate mean nothing, the desk doesn't fail, the recruiter fails. Managers will just sit in your emails, they watch your sent box. Everything has to be a KPI. I was once asked why I hadn't sent a single email on a sick day.

Pros

Well known company with a supposed good reputation and some good training available. About it really just don't hold your breath.

Cons

The MDs treat staff as easily disposable, when it comes to promotion time they will pull you to one side and suggest you leave the company otherwise they will sack you. Targets are unrealistic, and they expect you to work longer hours than the 45-50 hour weeks you already work. A real chauvinistic/bullying atmosphere within the office as well. If you are "successful" they are prepared to overlook everything else.
