Pros

The pay was very good. The holiday was good.

Cons

In a nutshell, Kier don't care about the employees that do the graft and praise managers who diminish all moral. Other reviews will highlight that. Managers love to use jargon that only they understand. My favorite quote was: "I've been with Kier for over a year but I've only just started work." If I made a statement like that I would have been fired. No forewarning of redundancy and very poorly managed.

Utter clown school, minus the fun.

Pros

You can always leave just as quickly as you enter. Tea and coffee is free. With the current managers in place, the business will fold long before they get anywhere near their current "Vision 2020" meaning no one will have to suffer the misfortune of ever being a Kier employee ever again.

Cons

Honestly, one of the worst managed companies you could ever wish to avoid! IT systems are horrible/antiquated. They are aware of this and they are choosing to do nothing more than paper over the cracks. Money is not good "It's not what you know, but who you know" has never been more true than it is working for these lot. If you were to watch all 37 years worth of episodes of Question Time, back to back, you would still hear less lies than you are likely to be spoon fed here over the course of say...12 months. So many SOPS, so few people actually adhering to any of them. People just do what they want, regardless of how it effects others within the business and it feels like Mad Max levels of chaos at times, only nowhere near as cool.

Honesty is NOT a good policy (nor is it embraced by the company)

Pros

The company pays well, but only if you are good enough to negotiate for yourself otherwise you will languish on the minimum amount possible for as long as you can put up with it. There are a number of good people dotted around the varying business sectors but they are few and far between.

Cons

Due to the disparate nature of the company and the constant desire to acquire competitors/complimentary businesses there is a massive lack of communication between divisions and this can be crippling at times, it is very much a case of one hand never knowing what the other is up to except when something goes badly wrong (which it frequently does). The IT department in particular as a whole is shambolic, persistent issues prevail seemingly unstoppable 'Severity One' issues occuring if not daily at the very least weekly, and with their published aims to cut these down to single figures in a year period they have failed miserably within weeks.
