Great people.... no longer a great company.

Pros

Gorgeous campus which is truely hard to beat... And the majority of people who work here are great.

Cons

There is a very structured old fashioned hierarchy at McCann where they do not listen to people who earn less than around £55k. Even though these are usually the younger generation with the fresh ideas. They have very little without their Aldi client, who do not treat McCann colleagues with respect. But McCann are too scared to challenge the client on this in case they pull business away. No salary review process, increases only given to the favourites or when you hand your notice in. Not a diverse workforce, the majority of the people who work here are middle class, white and local to the Pressbury area.

Pros

The office setting is stunning but don't let that full you into thinking this is a nice place to work! Some of my colleagues were genuinely lovely people but I don't have a lot more that's positive to say!

Cons

Where to begin! I've worked at some of the worlds biggest companies and was surprised to find the nastiest colleagues ever encountered worked at McCann Manchester! I was treated like dirt and used as a dogs body. This was my first job after moving here from another country. Ironically I've since gone onto senior management showing that my talents were never recognised at McCann. There's no training or career development and there can be super long hours. If you don't regularly stay several hours past 5pm, you're an outcast. I was used to move the departments stuff during one of their many office moves, leaving me with the sorest back. I was regularly made to feel bad, with my boss and his favourite employee whispering away next to me day after day. I once got told off for being "too aggressive" as I followed up with a friendly email on a task that hadn't been completed by someone. Honest to god, there's some massive, idiotic egos here! Don't be fooled by the big name and campus - this place is as poor a workplace as they come!

Pros

Office is amazing. This is the only pro I can think of.

Cons

People are not helpful , asking questions is a sign of weakness, long hours expected, not a collaborative environment, family obligations not respected
