Pros

There is potential for things to recover with a change in leadership and more industry knowledge in the senior management team. Although, it will take some years.

Cons

Since July 22, there has been a steady exodus as people leave the management services business. So sad to see such industry knowledge and experience lost. Some 3 months after a major re-organisation, people are still choosing to leave. House Managers, Estates Managers and Operations Managert are all demoralised. So, no point in complaiunimng to your manager, they just say they know and feel helpless. Development staff are very poorly supported. It is near impossible to get anybody at HO on the phone or get a reply to an email. The new exec team are naive and live in a land of PowerPoints that don't reflect reality. Staff communications are all jazz and glitter with no depth and substance. Positive online reviews tend to be from head office or HR staff. You won't find them from staff working across the country in the developments. Go look.

No respect for their employees

Pros

Sales negotiators used to earn a decent salary but that is now questionable as in the majority of cases the targets are now unachievable. A company car is also offered but unfortunately keeps you longer with this appalling company than you want to be. Fellow employees can be fabulous but morale is at an all time low . Our customers are generally retirees and there is a great sense of satisfaction from the interaction with them.

Cons

There is no respect for employees from the management at McCarthy and Stone and they tend to employ the wrong people in middle management positions with very little experience of the industry, our customers and the difficulties of trying to sell retirement apartments in a niche market. They are only interested in profit and would achieve more sales if the apartments were attainable for more people. There is now a real bullying culture which seems to be encouraged. Communication between departments is virtually non-existent and the majority of staff are looking for another job. A very unhappy place of employment to be given a wide berth if you value your self worth and confidence.

Dreadful company - don

Pros

Lovely new premises in central Bournemouth - although that means parking is sparse and expensive. Free selection of tea and coffee.

Cons

4 managers, a whole call centre and highly skilled graphics team axed in my short but unpleasant time working for McStone. One had over 18yrs company experience. Colleagues more interested in office politicking than actually performing well. Shambolic marketing strategy & implementation - more fire-fighting than planning. Siloed teams lacking any attempt at joined up communications. Dreadful work/life balance - the only way to succeed is to have no life outside work.
