No respect for tutor schedules

Pros

Flexible schedule that allows you to choose lessons around your availability. Suitable for students or anyone looking for additional income alongside other commitments. Payments are generally made on time. Expectations and lesson procedures are straightforward and easy to understand. Once you build a regular client base, the platform can provide a steady stream of work.

Cons

Scheduled lessons are sometimes changed without sufficient notice, and tutors may be penalised if they fail to spot the changes. Communication often feels automated, making it difficult to get meaningful support when issues arise. Platform changes can affect earnings; payment reductions are sometimes presented as improvements to the system. There is limited opportunity to appeal penalties or challenge decisions. Contacting support can be difficult, whether by email or other channels. Lessons are occasionally offered outside your stated availability despite having an organised schedule. Lesson allocation is highly competitive and operates on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning opportunities can disappear within seconds. It can be difficult to secure enough lessons when starting out, making earnings inconsistent until you establish a regular group of students.

Pros

- Nice modern London office - MacBook provided for work

Cons

- Very limited flexibility to take short breaks or step away from the screen, often requiring permission from management or responsible person at the time. - Little to no autonomy of your day to day tasks/ lunch break etc with a highly controlled working environment. - Poor middle management, communication, and teamwork, which negatively impact the overall workplace culture. - The team is frequently under significant stress due to high workloads and demanding performance expectations and targets. - Employees are often expected to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, creating a workload comparable to that of a busy call centre. - The salary does not adequately reflect the workload, responsibilities, and pressure associated with the role. - High-pressure environment with limited support for employee wellbeing and work-life balance. - There is no progression within the company. - Lengthy and overly complex interview process for a very junior position.
