Pros

You get what you give! I came into this job with virtually no sales experience (had worked somewhat related jobs like customer support/retail etc) and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was able to make great money. It's no exaggeration to say my life changed overnight. I've only worked here 1 year and have already been promoted 3 times (twice within the SDR role, and now officially promoted out of seat to AE). Several of my peers have been promoted, a couple even cross-functionally. I know this is an area that hasn't always been stellar, but leadership is showing an active effort to promote internally this year - in just this month alone 4 of us SDRs were promoted out of seat. Some people who've left the company and complained have turned down opportunities to grow or take on more responsibility because they were "lame" or not good enough - when in reality showing a growth mindset and doing those tasks is exactly what grabs leadership's attention and takes you to the big leagues everyone claims they're trying to get to. I think that there is plenty of opportunity if you seek it and try to pave your path. I was also fortunate to have a very chill manager who supported me the exact amount I needed. Very grateful for my time as an SDR here. - Great earning potential (SDRs consistently doubling and some even tripling their base pay)* - Hybrid schedule (3x in office, 2x WFH) - Good benefits available (3 healthcare tiers available in this role at varying costs) - Relaxed vacation/PTO policy (especially if you are hitting your numbers) - Approachable management - Great office culture (SDRs in Austin TX are genuinely friends outside of work) - Open line of communication across Teams channels; colleagues always willing to assist and even mentor you - Ability to go to President's (Achievers) Club - Consistent "spiffs" (opportunities to make extra cash through friendly competition) > boosts morale and desire to achieve - Annual sales kickoff "bootcamp" in Europe - A few fun holiday parties / team events per year - Overall fun company to work for with friendly people in every department

Cons

- *As expected in sales, quotas subject to change when consistently overachieved across the group - Having a more defined career path would boost morale (I still think being proactive and making an effort to reach out and ask for help is key, but some people would prefer to have a laid-out plan or guide of some sort) - Base pay for sales roles here could be better when compared to others in the market

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review—and congratulations on your growth and promotion journey! We’re especially glad to hear that Optimizely provided a space where someone new to sales could ramp quickly, earn competitively, and progress based on effort and mindset. Internal mobility, learning through ownership, and recognizing those who step up are areas we’ve been intentionally investing in, and it’s great to see that reflected in your experience and in the SDR team overall. We also appreciate the candid feedback around career path clarity and base compensation. These are active areas of discussion as we continue refining our SDR framework and ensuring transparency around progression and expectations. Thank you for your contributions, your growth mindset, and for being such a positive part of the culture. We’re excited to see what’s next for you at Optimizely.

Pros

Career growth opportunities – Clear paths to grow if you raise your hand and perform. High performers are noticed, and internal mobility is real. Strong culture & people – Smart, supportive teammates who genuinely want you to succeed. Leadership is approachable, and collaboration across teams is encouraged.

Cons

Rapid growth means constant change – Priorities, processes, and team structures can evolve quickly. This can be challenging at first, but it’s a great environment for learning how to adapt, influence, and operate in a scaling organization.
