Pros

Very flexible place to work, post pandemic you can WFH as much as you like, very supportive to parents etc. They've done a good job of making days in the office worthwhile when they are enforced.

Cons

SAGE still behaves like a small publisher when it isn't one. At management level your "feedback" is continually sought but there is a company line to tow and if you don't follow it you are ostracised. This just breeds toxicity and resentment - stop asking for opinions you don't want to hear. The same is true at lower levels- constant surveys and check ins where people express dissatisfaction but then nothing is done. A lot of staff are starting to leave but having been privy to meetings about departures in the past I suspect their feedback will be disregarded. Conversely, the company has become completely paralysed by the establishment of its DEI groups which have open communication channels internally, allowing employees to publicly badmouth the company with no repercussions as it's a "safe space". Global management is a mess - cultural differences between UK and US offices are not acknowledged, leading to isolation and lack of support of UK staff managed out of the US office (it may be the same vice versa). Poor management and direction is not recognised or addressed. The company are not investing in key areas of the business and are falling behind competitors in several places. High performing staff are not challenged as well as they should be. SAGE is a good place to work if you're happy to sit back, relax and take advantage of the flexibility. I would not recommend it as a long term environment to develop personally or professionally.

Pros

Good employee benefits and lovely fellow colleagues.

Cons

Promotion only achievable through higher level employees going on leave, and you taking over their responsibilities for a few months before proving you are capable of higher level work. A very demotivating way of promotion that is not given through personal progression, but by taking on more and more work from the department until you receive good 'exposure'. The average pay is one of the lowest in Greater London.

Passive - Aggressive Culture Will Kill This Company

Pros

Free Books Free Coffee/Tea Bonus Payments (Covers the day to day living costs for low paid workers)

Cons

Where do I start with this company. I really think SAGE is losing it's way and as a company does not value it's staff who work long hours under management who accepts doesn't condone the passive aggressive culture of the company. Salaries SAGE do not reflect the market and are very poor. The staff turn over very high due to no avenues for promotion or career growth. Hard work isn't rewarded or acknowledged by senior management and morale is pretty low.
