Pros

My former collegues were great to work with!

Cons

No benefits, bad management in some teams, no one to look after the small things in the office (stationary, kitchen supplies, greeting people at reception), people who are not good at their job are kept and drag the company/teams down

Smart Teachers Response

We thank you for writing a review but we are disappointed to read that you wouldn't recommend Smart Teachers to a friend. Our holiday entitlement of 25 days, increasing a day for each year of service worked is considered favourable and many of our staff enjoy 30 days holiday. Benefits include a generous pension scheme, reduced hours during the school holidays, summer parties and team competitions and incentives. We also offer staff free breakfast each day and exclusive staff discounts. Smart has always been a close-knit team and enjoy working in a modern open-plan office where each team work together collectively. We encourage staff to take responsibility for their own ‘desk’ with the support needed to grow. As a small business, we believe that everyone should take pride in the office, which includes looking after the facilities provided, taking care of the office and candidates when they come to register. We wish you all the best in your new role.

Pros

Do not need to commit to regular work.

Cons

Failed to find me any work for weeks despite assuring me that there were plenty of jobs. The first job they offered me was at an SEN school. I accepted it, though I was rather nervous since I've had very little experience working in this field. I expressed my concerns to Smart Teachers and tried to seek advice about teaching children with SEN and this was their response: 'be as proactive as possible, remain patient, and work with other TA's'. This advice is NOT good enough and it certainly did not help when I was being attacked by one of the students. By no means am I blaming the student or the school for this incident, but I am very disappointed with Smart Teachers for failing to provide me with the advice and training necessary for diffusing problematic situations like this. They should have known (based on my profile) that I required training/guidance prior to working at an SEN school. Overall, Smart Teachers have done very little to find me a job suited to my profile and the support that they have given me is completely inadequate.
