Pros

Unfortunately there really AREN'T MANY PROS. Main one is the exposure to a retail business and the operations element. Free samples and staff sales is the other pro.

Cons

Do NOT be fooled by Heads of departments who write reviews on here saying 'if you are prepared to roll your sleeves up and work hard then this is the company for you'. When I joined the company over seven years ago the then MD was a passionate individual or took a genuine interest in the company and its employees in particular head office. Sales were great, bonuses were good, people were happy and morale was good. Then she retired and a new MD came who 99% of the head office employees will say is definetly not passionate and lacks the people skills to even say hello to members of staff. (oh by the way the 1% who would disagree with this are the so called elite LEADERSHIP team, a very tight knit overpaid group of heads of whom several would struggle to get a similar role anywhere else) The pay is very poor. Considering how much profit the company makes its rewards aren't great at all. One could argue if promotions were dished out and pay rises given then this would make the employee feel valuable and make them WANT TO STAY. However these luxuries in employment at the perfume shop are unfortunately rarely dished out and the only people who are rewarding themselves are those who are part of either the leadership team or good friends with them. Hard working and highly skilled people are LEAVING the company because the rewards and benefits are so bad. The company is fortunate enough to be a high street brand so in their eyes it will always attract talent...keeping that talent will be difficult in the future. Do not waste 2/3 years of your life here. The only thing the perfume shop (mainly HR Director) has to boast is the 'Times Top 100' and even that is falling lower year by year! Its not a great place to work and this is coming from someone who worked there for a very long time. Hope this helps! FOR THE LOVE!

Pros

Great experience, excellent stepping stone to further careers

Cons

Management willing to point fingers of blame / look away from issues, no accountability, 'my way or the high way' attitude, if your face (or gender) doesn't fit you'll have a rough time, 0% respect for anyone who is new to the industry.
