Pros

Decent benefits, solid pay in comparison to the market overall. Exceptional colleagues who provided excellent support

Cons

Tipalti has now made lay offs in 2023 and 2025. Whilst businesses often take this route, particularly in tech, Tipalti went on a poorly planned hiring spree in 2024 which has left many people in engineering and sales without jobs. The hiring in 2024 was evidently poorly planned and thought out. You would not be walking into a secure jobs by any means if you take a role here. Tipalti positions itself as a premium product stack, however it being caught up to at a rapid pace by newcomers in the market. There’s a lack of innovation at Tipalti, who seem to think their name brand can carry them over the line in specific deals. It’s simply not the case. Products are often released when they don’t work and the product team seems to take an age to release anything of value. The UK team has famously waited for cards to be released for nearly 3 years, with product regularly telling us “next quarter”, so much so it became a running joke in most circles. There’s a lack of accountability within the product teams and this is now becoming a glaring issue as the company evaluates its future plans. The main problem with Tipalti is it inability to onboard new customers. Time and time again new customers churn as a result of poorly planned and poorly executed implementations. The onboarding team is measured by how fast it can onboard a prospect, which is counter intuitive as it doesn’t allow for the time and space for clients to get up and running at their own pace and do the due diligence required. Combine this with poor products that often break and you have a recipe for disaster. Don’t expect to receive any commissions if you work here in sales. Your pay depends on the client fully onboarding to the platform and passing KYC, both of which are ultimately out of your control. After recent layoffs, we now have a huge office with barely anybody in it. Your attendance is noted and reported to the office of the CEO (this has been confirmed). It’s an utterly bizarre scenario and shows the level of mistrust and lack of that can exist. Finally, and I say this honestly, I wouldn’t consider joining Tipalti at this time. The company is on a downward spiral. Products are not being improved, product rollouts are consistently delayed, layoffs happen frequently, you will be forced to work in an office with about 6 people in it and, most importantly (if you work in sales) you have no control over your commission. There’s plenty of other upcoming competitors where you will find a much better home.

Pros

Absolutely nothing positive to say.

Cons

My four years at Tipalti were, without exaggeration, some of the most frustrating and disheartening years of my career. Despite being a consistently high-performing sales rep who regularly went the extra mile—even whilst dealing with significant personal challenges—I was repeatedly made to feel undervalued, unsupported, and entirely replaceable. One of the lowest points for me personally was being expected to work during my paternity leave. Instead of being given the time and space to support my family, I was chased to close a deal that I had already put considerable effort into. I ended up completing the work, delivering on everything asked of me, and even presenting company-wide on multiple occasions about the “fantastic job” I had done. Yet, despite all of that, I was ultimately not paid the commission for that deal. It was an incredibly demoralising experience and left me feeling exploited at a time when I should have been focusing on my family. From the outset, it was evident that Tipalti does not prioritise or genuinely respect its salespeople. Commission was a constant source of frustration: payments were routinely far lower than what I believed I had rightfully earned, and there was a glaring lack of transparency or urgency when concerns were raised. No matter how much I contributed to the team, the attitude seemed to be that my efforts were expected, not appreciated. Another infuriating aspect of my time there was the debacle surrounding my share purchase. I attempted—twice—to buy my shares, sent the money, chased multiple times, and still ended up being informed that it was “not possible to extend” the deadline. The sheer lack of accountability and the complete absence of internal coordination were astonishing. It was an appallingly mismanaged process that ultimately cost me the opportunity altogether. No apology. No responsibility taken. No solution offered. In my opinion, Tipalti is poorly run at almost every level, particularly when it comes to supporting the people who actually generate revenue. Sales reps are treated as disposable rather than as skilled professionals. During my time there, I saw capable colleagues burn out, morale nosedive, and countless talented individuals leave simply because leadership would not invest in or listen to the employees keeping the company afloat. If you are considering working here—don’t. Not if you value fair compensation, clear communication, competent leadership, or a company that actually cares about its staff. My experience was consistently disappointing, discouraging, and demoralising, and I would not recommend Tipalti to anyone who expects professionalism, respect, or even the most basic organisational competence.

Pros

- Good product and free food

Cons

- Micromanagement - Managers within the Development org do not have enough sales experience to be managers. Unable to relate, lead by example or train entry level sales professionals - Minimal training, get dev reps to train each other because management are not experienced enough themselves - Controlling behavior and jealousy is ripe - Undermining of other peoples success - Peers do not like it when other people work differently
